![]() | Diwali Festival of Lights 2007 Cal Poly Pomona PolyCentric has posted the following: The festival takes place Nov. 8, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the University Plaza. Diwali is a celebration rooted in Hindu religion with a secular tradition as well. Traditionally celebrated over the course of five days, the general story behind Diwali is the triumph of good over evil, and the lighting of the lamp of knowledge and reflection. The Indian Student Association and the Asian & Pacific Islander Student Center celebrate this occasion annually with an event filled with food, cultural performances, music, and activities. This year, Professor Anjana Narayan of psychology and sociology will speak in more detail about the history of this event, its significance and its relevance to us today. This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend. For more information, contact the Asian & Pacific Islander Student Center at (909) 869-5023 or at http://www.dsa.csupomona.edu/apisc/ More... |
