The 411: FINALS STRESS RELIEF
Don’t look now but finals are on their way. For some, it’s a final project while for others it’s tests and papers. Either way one thing all students have in common is finals stress. It’s a different kind of stress than we find throughout the rest of the quarter. Here are a few stress relieving tips.

· When stress hits, take time out.
· Take time for you.
· Share your problems with family and friends.
· Sleep at night, not in class.
· Learn to say no to extra activities.
· Exercise and eat well.

Stress isn’t just mental; it also has physical and emotional effects. Our bodies are designed to react to stress. Stress can be positive, keeping us alert and ready to avoid danger but it is when a person faces continuous stress that it becomes negative.

Want to see how stressed you are? The Wellness Center at Cal Poly Pomona has FREE assessments available so you can assess your level of stress as well as informational sheets with tips on how to decrease stress and manage your time. If you would like to talk to someone, you can make an appointment with one of the Wellness Center staff or Peer Health educators to learn ways to personally decrease stress and to pick up tips to manage your stress. Stop by their office in the Bronco Student Center (bldg. 35-1341) or visit their Web site at http://dsa.csupomona.edu/shs/twc/.
