![]() | The 411: QUICK TIPS FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS There are several steps that you can take to achieve academic success. And most of them are quite simple too! Get advising. Talk to your advisor and map out your academic career. Figure out where you want to be and how to get there. Schedule the right classes. Sometimes being a super senior isn’t all that super. Take the classes you need and take them in order. Schedule the right amount of classes. Graduation is important but finding your pace will help to enhance your education. Twenty-four units aren’t realistic for most students; especially if you have a job or are extremely involved on campus and in your community. Get to know your professors. Your professors want to get to know you too. Ask questions that will help you get a better idea of the expectations of the class. Consider asking things like time commitments, testing style, and class participation. Use campus tools. There are numerous academic resources on campus that are available and most of them are free or close to it. A great starting point is the Learning Resource Center. You can find everything from discounted tutoring to testing tips. Study and don’t get behind. It’s easy to fall behind, but hard to catch up. And on the quarter system staying on top of your work is even more important. Evaluate & repeat. Look back on your past quarter and think about what worked and what didn’t. |
