Posting School-Related E-Mails

Hello everyone,

We would appreciate if you would take the time to post the following e-mails sent by the university in the University Newsletters forum:
  • club(s) newsletter,
  • internship information,
  • job information,
  • alumni newsletter
  • department news
  • and other resources.

Posting such valuable information helps increase the awareness of what is available to all Cal Poly Pomona & San Luis Obispo students.
Of course, there are certain e-mails that specifically tell you that only the recipient may view and acknowledge the e-mail. Then you can read the e-mail and discard it afterward. But other than those e-mails, please do let us all know of what internship, job recruitments, upcoming events, news about your major and/or club and organizations, and pertinent info that are available for the entire student body.

One of the biggest concept that you will hear over and over in any MBA program is “network”. What is a network? What is networking?

I consider networking as a personal opportunity to introduce yourself to others, get to know them and market yourself. Introduce yourself to your MBA friends, to alumni, professors, and all business people you meet. Learn about them and help them learn more about you. There may be hundreds of professional and personal things for which you may be able to assist each other, but you can never find those things if you do not do the networking.

The reality is that, having an MBA is no longer enough on its own for finding a good job. There are thousands of people who have an MBA and probably more specific business experience than you do. I have seen many of my friends not being able to find jobs even long after they graduated.

You have all the resources you need. You have the resources from student government as well as the college of business, professors and alumni. College of Business and Dean Robert Anderson has been the greatest supporters of the GBA. And all you need to do is to be involved and be active.

You never know when, where and who can actually change your life.

The excerpt is not only towards business majors and prospective MBAs. Networking should be applied to all college students. CalPolyOnline.com is available for the students by the students. Let us help one another and build an online network for all Cal Poly students and graduates.

Best Regards,
Kevin Kwak
