Obazuaye, Sunday PLS 201

This african american professor DOES have an accent, but it shouldn't be 2 hard 2 understand what he says. His lectures are pretty straight forward. TAKE GOOD NOTES.... EVERYTHING THAT COMES OUT OF HIS MOUTH YOU SHOULD WRITE DOWN ON YOUR NOTES!!! Thats what i always do because i try AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to avoid book reading, AND IT PAYED OFF!!! I got an A in the class (i neeeever get A's in G.E.'s, hehe). don't get me wrong though, its not thaaat easy, but for a lazy student like me, it was ok. There is a group project where u have 2 present some sort of government thingi... we STRAIGHT READ OUT OF THE POWERPOINT presentation and it didn't seem to affect our grade.... esp. since we all gave ourselves 50's out of 50's (U grade yourselves afterwards). He has like 4 or 5 quizes that are SUPER simple because there online. u print the quiz, and do it @ home, and the answers are in the book. IT IS NOT HARD AT ALL. You also have to do some like 8 page report, and that was the REAL BUMMER FOR ME, becuz I HATE HW, but i just sucked it in and did it. u have to have like 5 resources or somethin like that, but the library helped me a lot w/ that, so it REALLY was not hard. the only points i lost on my A- paper were just on grammar. If i were asked if i were to take him again, i probably wouldn't because the second time around i'd be TOO LAZY to do the paper and the group presentation, but getting an A would seem VERY VERY DO-ABLE. For those who are hardworkers, this is a dream class for you.

Everything he said above is about true. He is a really easy. Before any tests, he goes over what is on the test, all you have to do is write down what he says and search up the answers in the book. The tests are pretty easy, it's usually short answered and multiple choice. Multiple choice questions usually answer the short answer questions, so it's nothing really to worry about. The only "hard" thing to do in the class is probably the 8 page research paper as mentioned above. If you don't slack off and work on the paper throughout the quarter, the paper is cake.

Dr. Sunday Obazuaye for PLS 201 U.S. Government

I also recommend taking Dr. Obazuaye for PLS 201. If you decide to take his course during Fall quarter, I bet you that you will learn a lot and go through many class discussions about the upcoming U.S. Presidential election.
Even though Dr. Obazuaye has a distinct accent, students should not have a problem listening to his lecture and taking notes. Dr. Obazuaye emphasizes on our college education and how completing our academic goals here at Cal Poly Pomona is important in our life. I respect that.

The course consists of 7-10 homework assignments which are fairly simple. There were 3 case assignments where you need to research about the U.S. - Congressional Representatives (House), California State Senate, State Assembly, Mayor Council Member, and etc. The textbook "Democracy Under Pressure - An Introduction to the American Political System 9th" is easy to read and learn from it.
The lecture is based on his powerpoint notes. You should write everything that is on the powerpoint and his lecture. Seems like 30-40% percent of his notes and verbal lecture appears on the exam.

I had good luck with him too.. I think I got an A.. I did all the group work / etc and did just fine. I didn't spend much time with my nose in the book other than the one group assignment that I handled.
