| Cal Poly Guru | Martinez (EC201) Funny, concise, and enthusiastic about his job. He likes to talk about his day a lot and tell jokes (which are repeated every week...). He can teach so don't worry about not understanding the material. Everything was quite easy. 3 scantron tests (1 dropped) and no homework. You don't even have to read the book, the course is too easy. Recommended over any other EC professor

| Guru | yes we do have hw, but if u dont turn in the 1st one, don't bother turning in any other one's, becuz the hw's will not be counted towards your grade. HOWEVER, IF YOU DO TURN IN the 1st hw assignment, u must do the rest, cuz then THEY WILL BE PART OF YOUR GRADE. I opted NOT 2 DO THE HW ![]() I was the lucky one too who got 2 use his book for the quarter... hehe |

| Newcomer | Martinez is a really great professor, I don't know if the material is just hard or if his tests are hard, but the class was not very easy, but he was no-doubt very good at teaching the material and was very funny. He relates economics to the real world and always has great stories to tell. He is always available in his office hours for you to ask questions about the homework. Basically, if you do the homework and fully understand it, you can do well on the tests. I guess he has changed things up since the past, you have to do the homework (3 assignments and turn them in on time), and there are 2 tests and a final, he didn’t drop any tests. The tests were around 50 questions worth 2 points each, and he had 10 extra credit questions worth 1 point each. He also offered an additional extra credit to help borderline students. I ended up with an A in the class this quarter and would highly recommend him because I learned economics very well by taking his class because he didn’t make it boring. |

![]() | I took Martinez's class last year. It was very interesting. As I recall, his final was optional if you get all A's in the tests. His tests are not too bad if you study on his notes. His notes help alot, so do write them down and review them before tests. I had to take the final but I got an A in his class. Good Luck!
