![]() | James C. Bassett MHR 318 Professor: Dr. James C. Bassett (Professor and MHR Advisor) Course: Management and Human Resource (MHR) Textbook: Organization Behaviour 8th Ed. Overall, I recommend Dr. James C. Bassett for the MHR course. Dr. James Bassett is an excellent speaker. Dr. Bassett can go on and on and he should not bore you to death. There were few times when the lecture goes off-topic and Dr. Bassett digresses. He shares with us his work experience (Disneyland and Corporporations) and his accomplishments (co-founder of Princeton Review but Dr. Bassett sold and moved on). The course I've taken was MHR 318 - Organizational Behaviour. Dr. Bassett does not take attendance and after the first two weeks, about 40 to 50% of the students did not show up (it was an evening class afterall). Two midterms and a final. All multiple choice scantron exam. There is one group assignment where four to six students team up and need to write on a case. During the last two weeks, each group gives a formal presentation. Format as in dress in business attire and appear as businessmen and businesswomen. Few lectures are based on powerpoint and overhead and most of the times, he lectures in front of class. You can pass his course by reading the textbook and not showing up on class but Dr. Bassett's lecture is amusing so show up and learn something. IMPORTANT Peer Evaluation - From my past experience, peer evaluation is critical to your final grade since it is an "Organizational Behaviour MHR" class. During your quarter, you meet with your group and work on your group assignment. Do your best. The professor does not tell you how much percentage the group peer evaluation is worth and the syllabus does a poor job at it too. There is one extra credit assignment that you can work on.

![]() | I've taken Bassett for an afternoon class and boy was the class empty. He has a lot of story to tell which are insightful but not always related to the topic being covered. The exam scores are curved and no homework assignments. Yippee. Beware-in MHR 318, I got both C on my exams but our group presentation was impeccable. I got an A in the class. He grades the course in an unknown manner. Beats me but who can complain with an A grade. |

![]() | Dr. Basett was very cool with the students and in his lecture. What disappoints me is my final grade. I'm one of those shy type a person that stays quiet most of the time. I did turn in my part for the presentation project but I did not do much talking in the presentation itself. I got a C+ and a B on my two exams. My grade for the class was a C. Our group did a great job with the presentation and the write-up. Beats me. I think our grades affect by how well we talk in our presentation. If you are not a good speaker, STAY AWAY FROM Dr. Bassett MHR class. |
