Yes, it's a great website to check out before registering for classes. Most of the CalPoly faculty know about it too. Reviews date back to '99 I think.

Please everyone, don't forget to write a review about your own teacher to keep that site current!

Thanks for the post!

I bet a few professors try their best to change their old attitude so they won't get a bad reputation among the students.

Please support Cal Poly Forums by providing your own evaluations in the Professor Evaluation forum. Each and every input you provide will be greatly appreciated.

I've received some feedback from professors who have read the reviews about them (on GoodBadTenured.com). Many do find it valuable and try to improve on what people complain about. These are obviously the good teachers.

I've also gotten a couple of responses from unhappy professors who requested all comments about them be removed. One even threatened litigation! These are obviously the bad teachers who refuse to believe that they have any need for improvement.

So the reviews you write not only helps other students, they help instructors too. The time you take to do so is much appreciated!

Did the professor take further action? If yes, what did you do?

Woooow. That is so funny because I've had a professor who would bring up your website the 1st day of classes (I won't name names but I had him twice), and would confidently talk about how he doesn't care for the mean comments people leave for him. I felt bad for him because ie was saying how he has less people in one of his classes and he calls them the "good students". He fails to realize that 95% of those comments about him were sooo on point and that he should actually try to learn from them. *shrug* Many are set in their ways and don't care to change... I guess those are the "Tenured" ones, huh?

That reminds me, I need to write my reviews for Winter quarter... lol

When I receive unhappy email like that I politely explain that the site is meant as a tool to help students choose an instructor that best suits them. Unhelpful remarks will be removed, but comments that the professor considers "negative" will not be removed because it defeats the purpose of the site. Each person has a different view and is free to express it (without being offensive).

Lucky for me no further action was ever taken by any of the unhappy instructors. I try to be as professional as possible in my responses and avoid replies like, "Tough sh!t, people think you're a loser."
