Boddeker - Good?

I am planning on taking PHY131/L during the summer 2004 term...Boddeker is the professor...should I take him or not?

Any know his teaching style? Break-down of exams, quizzes, homework, lecture? Easy, fair, difficult?

TIA...

i've had bodeker before for phy 132L. I didn't like at how anal he was. There's a quiz every single lab, and even a LAB FINAL!!! and a huge report on a particular lab. Almost impossible 2 get an A in the lab. If u want to coast in the class, dont take him... if u want 2 learn and really study, he's pretty good. u pick.

Boddeker is a nice guy. The weekly quizzes are easy...all multiple choice. So is the lab final. There is only one formal report, unlike other professor who makes u write a report each week.

Smile

For Phy. 131L each week there was a prelab, a lab report. One formal report for the term, and a multiple choice final.

For Phy. 132L it was less work than for Phy. 131L and he was more orginized.
There is a prelab for each experiment. The prelabs are easy if you read about the experiment in the lab book first.
No lab reports every week, we only had to take the data, answer the questions and turn these in. He provides the forms for taking the data (print the data form from his website).
One formal report on lenses
Multiple choice final (not too hard)

Overall, I think he is a very good teacher. He was always in a good mood, available, and willing to help whenever we had questions. He is not easy, but he is nice and fair.

Taking Boddekker in lab helped me do better in my lecture class. He would help those of us who needed it, but as people are saying, for 131/L he does give quizzes every week, and one formal lab, but the pre-labs and lab data and questions are not hard, and he will even help you with them. He does give a lab final, which is kind of hard at first glance, but easy when you get down to working it. He is really into simplifying concepts. I got an A in his lab and I'm not even a real good physics student. I just made the effort to try to do well and it helps that he grades on a curve. But he was also cool as a person and made the examples on concepts fun (like when a Hummer smashes a VW Beetle).
