| Active Member | Why won't they hire me? I'm a junior majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and minoring in math. I have a GPA of 3.75, belong to the Cal Poly Honors Program, have work experience (although not industry related, but have to start somewhere), volounteer activities, a nice resume. So why am I getting turned down by every internship I apply to? I went to the job fair, dropped off seven resumes, tried to talk to the recruiters as much as possible to make them remember me...haven't heard anything from them Applied to numerous Boeing internships through their online process, and everyone that I apply to ends up saying "No longer under consideration." I applied to JPL, through the career center interview trac, and didn't even get preselected for an interview for a summer internship. I'm starting to get discouraged. ![]() |

![]() | This thread has been moved over to the Network forum. Thanks for sharing your concerns. Don't get your hopes down. Many times, employment slots are very limited when it comes to the high-end jobs in a top company. I also think it might have to do with your class standing. Companies want to invite prospects that are soon to be graduating so that the company can keep the interns after they finish their programs. Continue to apply to all available internship positions and job openings via the web or through campus job fairs. I also want to recommend visiting other universities when they have their own job fairs and apply there. Most likely, the HR recruiters will never turn down your resume because you are from Cal Poly Pomona and not from that specific university. Give it a try. Spring quarter is the job fair season. And best of luck. |
