![]() | Winless Broncos Fall to 0-3, Worst Start in Decades This could be a very long year for both our men and women in basketball. The ladies once again looked utterly ragged, and the men surrendered a big first half lead and lost to a team many picked for last in the conference. In prior years we typically would sweep lowly SF State, but not this year. Observations: 1. Pac Ten stud Angelo T. spent more time talking to refs than playing sound basketball. He was zero for the world from distance and fouled out early in the game. 2. In the closing seconds with our team in the double bonus and down one point we lost the ball on the dribble. Any coach in the world will tell you to PASS it into the low post, attempt a shot, and at least hope for two free throws. 3. There is no team leader. This is huge news and spells doom for this team. 4. Tobias Jahn was a pleasant surprise and Rich Neveau also had some flashes. But nobody played a complete game wearing white jerseys. This could be Coach K's first losing season ever. And the lack of university support might send him to another coaching job. |

B. Angelo is inconsistent shooter. He tries to hard when his shot is not on which lead to turnovers and bad shots, but when he is on he can lead a team to victory. c. I never got why coach k called a time out. Larry had a chance to drive it to the hoop. If he missed we can save the timeout for the last play. Second the last play should of gone to the post, but what can you do. d. I agree there is no team leader yet, but I have a felling someone will step it up. You will think it would be Daniels or Angelo, but its going to have to be Gordon.Gordon has the capability to carry this team on his back in times. the other problem they have is the team chemestry. I think that is the reason why we see alot of bad passes/ E. Tobias was a surprise, but the problem with the team is the depth. I mean right now this team has no depth because of injury. they only suited 9 guys. Coach K bascially trust 7 of the guys. I do not know if Coach K will leave but the lack of budget all around is starting to scaring me. I guess we are seeing the reason why we never moved up to division I. Anyways I know its our worst start i still have hope. All i want now is win against monterey to get our first win. Of course if we do not get it. It will be a long season for the mens team. | |

![]() | I guess this year in the CCAA you might as well say any team can beat anybody. Monterey only lost by 8 to san bernardino. humboldt went to Ot versus Cal state LA. San Diego beat stanislaus by 3. The only blow out sonoma beat Dominguez by 10. We knew this league will be tough maybe this league is going to be extremely tough where anybody can lose to anybody. |

![]() | i agree as usual, lakdod. yes, angelo lit it up against what apparently is the worst team in the conference, but i doubt he will do that over tough road games, and it appears ALL of them will be difficult for the broncos this year. from what i saw friday night i think we are looking at a .500 club at best. yes, LA is for real. one more opponent we always have handled. on the ladies side we look destined for another really bad year. and we are five time national chapions. unbelievable. and once again i looked long and hard for either box scores or a web link for the alleged webcast and came up empty. not only do we have the worst web page in the conference but also what once was a user friendly site to one where you are left guessing. even once lowly dominguez hills is blowing us away with an outstanding web site. on the budget, i am told that almost every other team in the CCAA is beefing up their basketball programs while we are treading water. so if most of the league teams are CSUs with similar state budgets why is this so? are we that inept and mismanaged or what? i am ordinarily an optimist but the clouds keep getting darker at cal poly pomona, both in academics and athletics. next up: two of the tough washington schools in vegas. it could get real ugly. |
