![]() | CIS Major here! Quote:
1. You learn both the technical and business aspects of the industry (not just technical skills such as CS or Engineering) 2. Focuses on learn by doing - applying your skills in real world issues. At the same time, there's a course, CIS 328, that is made to strengthen your oral and written communcation skills as well as the power of networking 3. Professors, Student Organizations, and the students themselves are great resources if you apply yourself right 4. Speaking of Student Organizations, we have 3 of them ... actually 3 and a half (a developer's guild has been created) 5. Through the work that we do, we learn how to manage time and projects in a fast paced environment, perfect for consultants and auditors 6. There are many that don't want the consultant and auditing lifestyle and that's fine because we become somewhat overprepared for a slower paced lifestyle. 7. 4 Tracks: Telecom, Business Systems Analysis, Internet Programming and Security, and Application Software Development Why not everyone can hack it: 1. You still have to go through courses you may hate and may not be purely related to what you want to do (i.e. Telecoms majors may not like the Java courses) 2. The combination of the technical and business prospective may not be the fun for you 3. Under utilizing available resources | |
