Where Will the Broncos Finish in the CCAA?

Now that we've seen our men in action in Kellogg Gym against border rival San Bernardino, we head into perhaps the most brutal conference schedule in history.

At least six teams could win it all. San Bernardino just completed a run of six straight crowns, Sonoma won last year, San Diego has already defeated the #2 and #4 teams in the nation, Bakersfield is playing its last year with a Division I team, and Humboldt returns the entire team from a Sweet Sixteen club of last year. Where do the Broncos figure to be in the mix?

Tough to call right now, it can be any team's year but if we keep playing well like we did on opening nite, CPP is hard team to beat.

wow, we have a couple of rocket scientists who are predicting our conference leading broncos are going to crash and burn and go no better than 9-13 overall and 7-12 in conference the rest of the year even though we've already defeated the top three teams in the league and even though coach k. never has had a losing record in his bronco career.

please enlighten us, you einsteins.

From the ultimate broncofan

This is the best team coach k has had, even better the team that
went to florida Elite eight team. the difference is the "size", broncos
can pound teams inside. and remember their most athletic guy has been hurt
-donelle- this team is special as long as luis scores about 8-10 points a game
this is a final four team. donelle made a dunk that even some d-1 player can't make-against sonoma.

I got a question thet list baby elton brand kaleen daniels as 6-6 he looks taller than both kevin and bill 6-7 guys-thoughts any-one kaleen looks 6-7 or even 6-8.

i place this team as equal to the team three years ago, the one that was knocked out by a Final Four humboldt squad, 86-83, in the playoffs. the 'jacks had to play a virtually perfect game to beat our broncos over at CSUSB and they had two all americans doing just that. both jeff and david were in their junior years and we had the best point guard in years in j. williams, a kid who could penetrate, shoot, and dish with amazing efficiency. i believe had humboldt not been so hot that day WE would have been in the Final Four.

that said, this team has more potential. mike ridgway and guy beahm were our other key big guys then but larry, donelle, melvyn and dion are way more athletic if not as disciplined. if they can polish their games and mature, look out. i see some huge wars upcoming among the conference and regional heavyweights, and luis proved he is tough as nails as a defender when he sets himself into lock down mode.

daniels' game is far more polished this year than last and he's lost some serious weight. he looks 6-7 to me. we need him to stay healthy to provide that important inside presence.

i would suspect that coach will look at different combinations in the vanguard game to ready us for that las vegas tournament. but you're right, this could be a very special year and one that may lead us to the roundball hall of fame at springfield, mass, ultimately.

that CCAA website just completed a poll asking who will win it. there were something like 250 voters and almost 26 per cent of them said the broncos would win it. 27 per cent said humboldt would win it, and about 15 per cent said san diego with nobody else in double digits. bakersfield is ineligible since it is DI but i sure would see the coyotes in the mix. they destroyed sonoma and led wire to wire against the jacks.

yah, this poll on our site probably got trolled by somebody from another school--maybe those tree climbers from humbdolt? half the team would have to flunk their fall grades for us to fall below .500, and even then coach k. would find a way and some kids to win some of them.
