![]() | This Weekend's Crucial Games Friday night, Sonoma State. defending conference champions and nationally ranked preseason but off to a slow 0-3 start. JT Tipton is a flat out hoss, can do it all on both ends of the floor, and a possible all american this year. but Seawolves (not Cossacks as the Bronco PA announcer said last night) are missing something this year, team chemistry, cohesion, confidence...so look for our guys to prevail though pat fuscaldo is a good coach. Saturday night, Humboldt State. nationally ranked in two polls, fifth in one of them. still undefeated at 3-0 with only loss in exhibition to #1 ranked UCLA. they return their ENTIRE TEAM from last year's sweet sixteen squad. but jeff oliver and the coyotes get them first on friday night. would help us a lot were the 'yotes and 'jacks to get into a brutal, highly physical match that goes into multiple overtimes and tires the tall and deep redwood country boys out. we are underdogs in this game and beating them would be huge and make a statement to the entire league and region. a tossup on our floor. we need a huge crowd to bring this one home for our men. |

![]() | fresh legs vs. tired legs we need to put sonoma away early and let dion, larry and kaelen get some rest for saturday. and we need the coyotes to keep the pressure on and the game in doubt so that the lumberjack regulars are worn out. then they get hotel food and hotel beds. nothing like home cookin'.... ![]() |

![]() | This weekends games are HUGE! Neither game is a gimme and the boys from Humboldt will be ready to play. Broncos got over the first hump by knockin off SB, now this weekend will be a monster hump to get over. It would be nice to go 3-0 this week, but even if the Broncos come out 2-1 they will still be in good condition to make a run in league. 1-2 will put them in a big hole. Let's get it done! |

![]() | Kellogg Krazees Alert there apparently is some confusion out there about this new BRONCO STAMPEDE club. this appears to be a booster club for mens basketball, not a cheer unit. you can pick up a free stampede shirt before tonight's game but please wear your Krazee shirt and cheer on the green and gold. i understand athletics has a very few Krazee shirts left for those who want one. sorry for any confusion any of the Krazees might have. ![]() |

Okay prediction time for the game I am 3-0 this year hopefully my prediction will come true. I am going to say Broncos win by 9. Final Score Broncos 66 Sonoma 57. |

![]() | very ragged bronco webcast tonight. instead of hervey malone doing the feature commentrary about the game the announcer is interviewing some womens player rather than calling the gamecast. he has not even given a score. duh...why? i switched over to the sonoma webcast. at least you know what's going on. |

![]() | final scores bronco women win 63-57 and men 77-71. our guys led wire to wire. now am listening to san bernardino beat humboldt, which was nationally ranked, favored to win conference, and undefeated. final score coyote men 76, lumberjacks 68. a battle of 3-1 teams sat nite and we are alone atop the league at 2-0. |

![]() | Nice Sweep Tonight! deon scores 20, but complemented by nice games from kaelen (14 points), larry (12), luis (10), and masked marvel kevin off the bench (9). another outstanding team effort, one that sets the table for humboldt. they never could get over the hump against the coyotes, so bring them on. let's send them back north at 0-2 in conference and us 3-0. very disappointing crowd, listed at a woeful 442. is everybody studying for finals or something? |

I got to say the women team have alot of heart. I was trying to bet someone in the first half when they were down by 15 that they will lose by more than 20 but the person did not accept it. Thank God because I would of lost bad. Hopefully they fix the scoreboard problem before the Humbolt game and maybe some of you guys can go to Kellogg and watch the game.

![]() | we had the lowest sized crowd in the entire conference in a game between the first place team and the defending conference champions. that just does not make sense since all schools are going into finals not just us. even cellar dweller san francisco state had over 550 up at their tiny gym called the swamp. another downtrodden program over at dominquez hills exceeded 700, and both san diego and san bernardino topped 1,000 fans. that makes us look pretty bad. i agree...once again it looked like the attendance was higher than that announced though it was a large and disappointing dropoff from monday. on the webcast that's highly unusual for paul helms not to be doing the gamecast. maybe he had equipment problems earlier and felt obliged to interview one of the ladies even if during the mens game? you guys need to remember he's running stats, arranging for interviews with the press, doing game management stuff AND webcasting the game all at the same time and can only presume hervey was doing other things and could not do color commentary. but yeah, guess you would like to know the score and what's going on too. sounds like the coyotes trapped and pressed a lot against the jacks. that should have fatigued both teams. but humboldt is very deep and they have a preseason all american in kevin johnson who had a double double last night and will not be held down. we just need to limit the supporting cast. how sweet would a sweep be? and then we get a breather in vanguard. can't recall the last time we were 3-0 and leading the league alone. been a while. |

What is the Ahtletic Dept. doing????? Even DIII Redlands outdrew the Broncos last nite. They should hire that sports marketing class for every game since they just don't do anything to promote these games. Very sad to have a great team and nobody comes to see them.

![]() | I think its not the students who are not attending the game I think its the alumni, boosters, and the casual fan. I have never seen so many empty seats behind the bench for two big games. Also there was alot of technical difficulty through both games. The big thing was one of the scoreboard did not work. |

![]() | Getting fans to attend the basketball games has always been a problem at Cal Poly. Students on the campus are apathetic when it comes to basketball but over the years it has gotten better, I must admit. Its hard to get fans to come watch Womens Basketball. I imagine too many fans aren't going to be coming to the games to watch the womens team if they continue to lose by 20+ points. The mens attendance could suffer slightly due to the womens poor performances. But hey its still early and theres still alot of big games left ahead of us and im positive that more students will come to the games once they realize how good of a team there is this year! |

![]() | on why the highlanders have flopped last year riverside lost to DIII puget sound at home. how sad to schedule a patsy at home, two divisions lower, and lose. this year, one player was killed, two big men out with injuries, and the coach who had no head coaching experience of note, left the team in midseason on a medical leave of absence. they would not finish .500 in the CCAA and would need to slip to the GSAC to be competitive. lots of reasons why the program has failed. among them: 1. underfunded from the launch back in 1999. lowest budget of any in the big west conference. 2. poor location. given a choice where would a star athlete play? santa barbara, irvine, long beach, or....riverside? 3. horrible facilities. their "arena" is almost 2,000 seats smaller than ours. real big league feel to that. 4. shared facilities. highlanders cannot practice on their own home floor. yep, it's true. 5. highly suspect administration. when the athletic director hires his pal down the hall, a guy unconnected with basketball and is rather an academic advisor, and then calls that a national search you know the fix is in. if these broncos had not developed a penchant for dramatic finishes i'd say the men in green and gold whup those so called division one highlanders by ten, and even four or five on their floor. the column was harsh, but the poor riverside fans have seen six years of pain called highlander basketball as a DI wannabe. as the column says, a DI program, with DII facilities, and DIII crowds. yep, they are averaging about 400 a game. wow. that's big time. |
