Unhappy Usually Absent Billy Bronco on Television?

there was a story today on the cal poly website that billy bronco will be appearing in a national television ad during the big dance.

only he shows up LESS than his frequent no shows from games at kellogg gym.

the ad shows a bunch of college mascots getting a pep talk from a ref before a basketball game. the cal poly story says billy is in the ad. but check out the budweiser web site and play the commerical and you'll see for yourself.

in the first shot there are nine mascots shown, and they are the cal state golden eagle, fullerton tuffy, fresno bulldog, nevada wolf, wichita shocker, arizona state devil, irvine anteater, kansas stat wildcat, and delaware state hornet. no billy.

in the next shot you get a wider angle and you get to see the long beach miner and the northridge matador.

and then in the last shot which is an overhead you can get a glimpse of the penn state nittany lion, and i think if you were to freeze the frame and blow it up ten times you might get billy's nose for a nanosecond.

so don't believe what the press release says. you won't see billy, just like you didn't see him for most of our home games this year.

call this one public relations not truth in journalism.

Come xiaxoue stop ranting about the little things. I just saw the commercial you are complaining to much about this I saw the commercial and saw Billy the Broncos with ease during the wide shot. Its not false statement that Bily will be on television. He was in the commercial. It never said it would have a big role in the commercial/

hey this sounds exciting! where can you see this commercial? is there a web link somewhere? this will be shown during the roundball playoffs? for D1 or D2? or both?

the west region is getting little respect on the D2 boards, lakdod. i made my case.

It will be shown during the Div 1 tourney. I actually found the commercial somewhat funny there a link through the front page of the school website. There is no close up of Billy but he easily seen when they pan out.

I know the West has benn getting some love. People are realizing the West has some great basketball teams, but many of them do not know because people do not stay up and listen to the games back East. Its same for Div I. I been watching Long Beach a couple of times this season, and the game between the Beach and Tennessee will be one of the most entertaining game of the first round. It will be a high scoring game.

If you guys are interested here is my final four prediction
Florida-midwest, UCLA-West, Georgetown-East, Ohio st. South
With UCLA facing GTown, and UCLA winning it all.
here my bracket

last scene of the shot you can see him in the back with his big head. Also at wide shot near the end he is the last mascot in the right.

sorry lakdod, your eyes must be sharper than mine. never caught him.

in any event, it's too bad billy couldn't get in the middle where you can see characters like the wheat shocker clearly. am guessing that our mascot just isn't different enough like that one.

bruins open today. should be a romp. not sure about trojans, and i really would like to see beach win one.

and we need picks on the elite eight from you, maybe on the D2 board?

Hall of Fame couldnt stay away too long... something always brings me back to the jungle..

In billy the broncos defense, he was present at alteast 5 home games this past season. I remember seeing him on numerous nights. I guess you just wanted something to pick on again. But hey atleast we have a a great mascot, and if billy the bronco doesnt appear enough for you, maybe i suggest that you (X) become the new billy the bronco mascot? just a suggestion...

Anyways, my tourney picks...

I have Florida vs Kansas and a rematch of the OT thriller Texas vs Texas AM

and.. Florida vs Texas in the championship with Florida cutting down the nets with NOAH MVP of the tourney!

Day 1 Losers

Stanford.. why even show up? washington should have took their place

Zags.. Pargo, where were you?

Duke.. We all knew it was going to happen? Bring in some more mcdonalds all americans, that might help

Marquette.. overrated all year long

Pitt... complete disappointment... why struggle with this team? Will have trouble vs VCU next round.

I agree with all of the Day 1 losers.
Stanford Why even show up I mean that was embarassing.

Marquette. 0 points through almost the 1st half. I mean I think that is the stat of the tourney. 0 points in the first 8 1/2 of the game that must be a first.

Duke- I called in my bracket. I especially thought it was going to happen after no upset in the morning games.

George Washington- I know there a 11 seed, but man they played almost as bad as Stanford.

Winners
VCU- I love that PG. He will his team to victory. Going to be a good game against Pitt.

Louisville- are they that good or does Stanford stink.

Xaiver- good win they might upset Ohio St in a close game.

One to watch Next year.
Davidson- Nice effort against Maryland they just colapse in the end of the game. That was my upset special of the day. They will return all 5 starter. You hear it first a team to watch in next year tourney.

Day 2
I am going to predict there will be 5 upset tommorrow.
My upset for Day 2
Winthrop over ND
Illinois over Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech over UNLV
Crieghton over Nevada
Long Beach vs Tennensee

close upset
Albany vs Virginia

I like how hall of fame started commenting on the winner and losers of the Div I tourney. So here is my winners and losers from the tourneys.

Losers
Notre Dame- Cheer Cheer for old Norte Dame. Wait they lost. Nice comeback but they gave it away at the end of the game. Of course that was my upset special of the day.
Arizona- what a waste of talent. They probably have the most 5 star recruits but are doing nothing with them. They should of easily beat Purdue.
Wisconsin- How do you allow a team to score 12 points especially a team that is the 15 seed. They are going to lose in the next round if the team does not step up soon.
Oregon- you let Miamiof Ohio stay in the game for most of the season. Shooting better improved or Winthrop will pull another upset.

Winners
Winthrop- Good win by them. My sleeper for the Elite eight. Cant blow a big lead like they did in the second half.
Texas AM CC- gave #2 Wisconsin all can handle, but they were to much, but you got to love their effort for most of the game especially since they were the #15 seed, and first tourney experience..
Tennensee- That was high scoring game 121 pts in the tourney amazing ,but wont go that far if they don’t stop the other team. Long Beach still score in the 80s.

just a note on beach. they have been known as a no defense club for years and allowing anybody to put up 121 confirms that. aaron nixon can light it up but the niners have no lock down defenders. i wonder how a team like that would perform under coach k.

speaking of, this must be the worst duke team in years. didn't even resemble the devil teams of yore.

any bets on how far the bruins and trojans go? if it is far we can say that the broncos got them ready!

Maybe we can take credit for helping SC but I would say no to your question Jay. I mean UCLA play both Humboldt and us and kick both teams behind. I think the bench playes help get readu UCLA. The Bench of UCLA probally can beat the Broncos. Well SC plain out suck when we played them. Of course they got better with the development of Gibson and the return of Pruit.

both teams just had to toughen up after the broncos tested them, lakdod.

of course the comment was in jest...but here's hoping we see more chances to play in those nice venues. the bronco barn needs to be retired.

I dont think kellogg needs to be put out to pasture yet. I actually think all it needs its new paint job and seatings. I mean all you have to do is have a one year remodeling plan and the gym will be good as new.

Winners and losers for Day 1 of Round 2
First today was the best day for this year tourney. Alot of close games. Today is what March Madness is all about.

Winners
Vanderbilt- top two game of the day. Beat a good Washingotn St. team.
Ohio St.- look sloppy for most of the game, but turn it on to made a great comeback when down by 4
North Carolina- Bigest margin of victory for any team.
UCLA- Great defensive game against Indiana. Let Indiana back but affalo and collison carried the team the last 2 min. Interesting match up in the sweet 16 against Pitt. Howland versus the team he coach prior to coming to UCLA.
Texas AM- going in to bacially into a Louisville home game and coming home with a victory

honorable mention for winners
VCU- Eventhough they lost great comeback from 19 to force OT.

Losers
Pitt- Blew a 19 point lead in the second half, and that game never should of made it to OT. Two miss free throw at the endd of regulation. Even though they blow the lead they are a still a good team and will give UCLA a challange.
Washington St.- when the game on the line why do you take it out of your two best player in Low and Weaver.
Louisville- You lose bascially a home game. Louisvile is less than 45 min from Lexington. I mean the selection comittiee gave them the perfect situation for them to advance to the sweet 16.

hey, i saw the bud spot during the dance. you're right in the final shot you catch a quick glimpse of billy. you just need to be looking for him. cute spot!

I dont care what anybody said that had to be the toughest exhibition schedule of all of college basketball. Two teams in the sweet 16, and a team who was going to compete for WCC championship if there best player did not get hurt.

Winners and losers for Round 2 day 2

Winners

USC- the surprise of the day. No one gave them a chance against Durant and Texas. North Carolina better be prepare SC will give them a game.

UNLV- The most underatted team in the tourney. Imagine the scoring between Oregon and UNLV.

Kansas- Look good against Kentucky, but they are known for meltdown in the tourney is the Saluskis the team to continue the trend.

Losers
Wisconsin- Where was the team that was dominant in the regular season. One thing for sure the Big Ten is weak this year.

Texas- a final Four sleeper. Nobody but Durant showed up for Texas.

UNLV will be down next year but that will be interesting to play them. Here are teams I would like to see the Broncos play exhibition games against. Arizona, California, Fresno St. University of San Diego, San Diego State, Long Beach St.
I would love to play them in a regular season or exhibition game
Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly SLO, Cal state Northridge, UCI. I would make most of those trips, and if we play SLO and the game is on a weekend. I will take the Amtrak up there to watch the game.

I have heard we might play UCSB as one of the exhibition game, but I can not confirm it.

I say the women should face St. Marys as one of their exhibition game. That would be interesting matchup.

we played USD in four straight years and we went 2-2.
jenny craig is nice.
fresno and san diego state also have nice venues as does san jose st.
the big west gyms are bad by comparison.
