No, you can take more than 16 units, but you have to ask for permission... you probably have to have an ok gpa, but it's not only for honors students, because I know of people who have taken more than 16 way before the honors program existed,...

really??!?! i have taken an AVERAGE of 15 units, MANY times more than 15, a few times 17 units, and no 1 has ever told me anything. ON THE PHONE, the most you can register for is 16 units. AFTER EVERY1 registers however, like when school starts, THEN YOU CAN TAKE AS MANY MORE AS YOU WANT.

I know of a professor in Calpoly who averaged like 24 units in calpoly a quarter, he said the most he ever took in a quarter was 31 units.

Steven, isn't 16 units the minimum for Honors student or is that only for the four year pledge?

I would expect it is the minimum for the four year pledge. I'm not aware of a minimum for the Honor's program.

Thankfully, I have a head start of over 114 units, so I'm one step ahead. I'll quickly fall back if I can't take more units though...

FYI, I'm doing 12 units at Cal Poly, working a regular part time job, working freelance doing some software classes, and trying to start a business on the side!

There's no maximum in the honors program or in the 4 year pledge... For the four year pledge you have to have around 16 units a quarter, and like 8 during summer quarter. The honors program requires 36 units a year, 20 hours of community serivce per year, and a 3.3 GPA to remain....

yeah, i started quiting some of my hours/jobs because it was getting to be too much... not sacrificing my social life though :P
(or school, if possible)

That is some schedule. What kind of business are you setting up if you don't mind asking. Anyways, good luck on your venture.

Two seperate ones actually. One is making knives (as you see in my sig) and the other is custom embroidery work and digitizing.

Well, time to get ready for my one job down in Orange so I can be back in time to get to my other job in Victorville and still leave me time to do my homework for school in Pomona. (lots of driving! )
