![]() | Two Studs Sign to Join Roundball Team good news, bronco fans. coach k. has done it again. last year it was larry gordon, the stud from montclair who should be playing DI mid major ball by now. all he did was hit almost a half dozen double doubles as a freshman and earn conference FOY honors. this year coach has signed a duet of studs. the first dude is rashad bias, from martin luther king high school, who is a tough as nails point guard who can penetrate, dish, and slash like nobody we have had since lucas lecour in the late 1990s. he is the total package and is the true point we have not had since jon williams departure more than two years ago. the other guy is a big man, about 6-6, 6-7, who can play any of three positions, has range and can bang in low. his name is donelle booker and he will also be an immediate impact player if he works hard and learns the system. another inland empire kid stolen under the nose of riverside and san bernardino. look for the broncos to return to the playoffs after just a so-so 17-10 year (for us) which was coach k's worst team but perhaps his best coaching job ever. with gordon, cook, melvyn, baby shaq and hofman teaming up with this pair it could be an interesting run. ![]() |

![]() | Thanks for the info Jay I look up the stats of the player and found this. Bias 11.3 pts, 3.3 assist and 1.1 steal and only 2.9 turnover Booker 16.3 pts, 9.2 Reb, 2.4 Blks, and 1.8 steal per game. Also was the mvp of the the San Andres League and second team Div IA. ![]() | i like both of these guys...a lot. and remember that high school stats don't always predict college performance. bias was on a prep team loaded with talent. and a summer league team where a couple of his teammates signed to programs called north carolina and louisville. he's only about 5-10 but can dunk easily and is not intimidated by the trees inside. that said, booker has at least as much potential. and imagine a kid stating that he has chosen poly for...gasp...ENGINEE RING???? so much for the stereotype that black basketball jocks only study parks and recreaction or something equally challenging intellectually. coach k. somehow finds these studs who can play ball AND compete in the classroom. check out our leading scorer, cook. business major with grades in the 3.5 range. and the entire TEAM goes around 3.0!!!! now coach sez he will add perhaps one or two more guys, possibly from the juco ranks. we're not rebuilding, we're reloading for another playoff run. ![]() |

I only hope that Coach does not find another showboat like Malone. We need team players not people who want to look different and show off. Am looking forward to seeing these two guys play.

i just wonder how many men's roundball teams there are (other than non scholarship DIII level) with that kind of academic performance. just more kudos to the quality of the basketball program!

![]() | i agree that the team has good grades jaybutt but don't agree about this being his best coaching job ever. if it were gordon would have started all year long and the showboat would have been on the bench kissing pictures of himself. i predict gordon and cook will lead the team back to the playoffs now that the main distraction is gone. |

![]() | so it look like a third recruit is coming in according to the link from the Cal poly bot. Tobias is 6-8 and from Germany who average 16 pts, 10 reb, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block a game two years ago playing for a HS in Texas. We have so much depth at the bigs this coming year. If I am counting right we can have the posibility of having 7 bigs on the roster. Hopefully Tobias is as good as what Coach K says he will be. sounds like we will have a good team for the next 3-4 years. Last edited by lakdod; 07-07-06 at 05:09 PM. |

![]() | this guy has nice stats and will only make the other bigs better if all stay healthy. some of the european players have more of a finesse game, nowitzki style, but that's okay too. we already have the banger in baby shaq. i think this year's edition will be an improvement over last year's disappointment and return to the playoffs. gordon will have a monster year, though i remain concerned about our depth and ability at guard. coach k. may start cook at point in a similar fashion to when he started sybesma there a couple years back even though david was 6-7. |

![]() | Great post I am a huge bronco fan and alumni I actually met hervey with coach i dont recall his name, that short dude, he was actually very nice, but he was definetly a "bust" lots of talent but no heart. Larry gordon is the best player i have seen in the ccaa in 10 years, haracio llamas played in the nba with the suns. His IQ on the court is just great, he is a good shooter who looks to board and pass first. I think he can make money in europe one-day playing hoops, jeff bonds is making 50K playing in england, this kid is better than bonds. |

![]() | I can't believe the season starts in 17 days. I will be going to game at UCLA, but I still need to buy tickets. I am holding out until Friday of next week to see if I can get better deal than those $9 seats on top. |

![]() | bronco chris, that's quite an observation you make about gordon...the best player in the league in the past decade? i might agree that he could get there based on his potential, but this conference has had its share of studs. appreciate the update about bonds. he is tearing up that british league. and jboyd is doing the same in a mexican pro league, proving that his breakout season last year was no fluke. did not get the connection with llamas, the suns and the NBA tho. huh? |

![]() | So I guess Hervey or "the showboat" however u guys dubbed him has no heart. Well the last time i checked, he was the only four year started in the history of Cal Poly Pomona Bronco Basketball. His stats compared to his junior season were up in every category except for 3pt%. So my question to know is, do you really even know what you're talking about? |

![]() | hall of fame, i respect your opinon but............... jeff bonds, 50k is the going rate for a mid-tier minor league basketball league. let me educate u a little bit. NBA D-League 25-50k CBA 15-30k usbl 10k ABA 10k-25K Europe-Italy 100k-200k Austrailia Mexico Asia South America 30K-50k Larry Gordon might not be the all time scorer but basketball is more than that, Pro Scouts dont look at points, it about physical talent and basketball IQ- can a player do something else to help a team- rebound and defend. does he move well without the ball. does he have size to play his position i.e. 6 ft shooting guard or a power player 6-5= tweeners. Larry ishas great size a full 6-5 and growing. |

![]() | Yeah I hear what you're saying. But when it comes to numbers Im not going to argue with you about that anymore. I have a some friends that are playing pro ball overseas, and there are several different levels of leauges within every country. So as one person maybe making 100K in italy, another person may be playing for a low end shitty DII equivalent league and be making 10K. So, actually it depends what league your in, how much you bargained for in your contract, and how much you're worth. As for the comment on what pro scouts are looking for, these days theres so much politics involved that pro scouts only look at what school you came from and how many points you averaged per game. It's not right, but that's just the world were living in. Mr. Bonds was fortunate enough to carry the hardwood along with his name (DII All-American) so that made it all easier for him to go overseas. |
