Thunderdome Event in front of the Student Union

Date: October 19, 2003
Time: Noon
Location: Front of Student Union
Who: Thunderdome / Dell / Maxim / ATI Radeon / HP

Today, in front of the student union, associates from Thunderdome had an event to promote various products and services. Several huts were set up to represent companies like Dell PC, HP, Maxim and Thunderdome.
Cal Poly Pomona students had a chance to register for a random drawing for a grand prize valued at $5,000.00 (I didn't get a good look at the grand prize, which was inside the glass cover back of a truck). After the quick registration, students received a neon green wristband, allowing the student to participate in various activities and win small prizes.
The event started off with a water balloon toss between two participants. Started with about twelve partners and ended with one winning partner. Each won a CD player. The following game was the marshmallow contest. The goal is not to eat as much marshmallow as possible but to hold marshmallows inside your mouth and be able to say "Thunderdome" as clear as possible. The winner also received a CD player and a bag of goodies. The next game was "Name that Tune."
I left the scenario and visited the Dell hut. Inside the hut were new Dell Dimensions XPS gaming system (PC). Combined with ATI Radeon 9800 videocards, the graphics were amazing. Playable games included Halo PC, Vietcong, Command & Conquer General and few others.
Other huts promoted Maxim magazines and HP color printers.

Wish I had a camera to post pictures. Next time.

They had another one today at the same place and time.
Football toss game and a miniature Mini Cooper relay. And "Show your wild talent" where they give you a copy of Italian Job dvd if you impress the crowd. This one asian dude all dressed up, took his dress shoes off and shades, and did one of those gymnastic moves on the lawn. Very unexpected.
