Starting a FIRST Robotics Team in Fall 2005

I'm highly considering starting a FIRST Robotics team at Cal Poly this coming fall. It will be my first semester at Cal Poly (I'm changing schools) but I still really want to do this.

What is FIRST?
FIRST Robotics is a national organization which hosts a competition in which high school students, teachers, engineers, and college students work together to design and build a robot in six weeks. Teams are sponsored by local engineering companies (though sometimes by other companies such as M&T Bank). For more information, see the FIRST website at http://www.usfirst.org.

How can I help?
If you are an engineering student, this is for you! You'll make an impact on high school kids that will last forever. Through my participation in middle and high school in FIRST, I came to really love engineering. College mentors guide students in the design and build process which occurs from early January through mid-February.
