On-Site Jobs

How many of you work on campus?
Food courts? Office?
Minimum wage?
Employee-friend discounts?

Employees get a discount but not the friends of the employee, unless the friend gives her/his friend the discount themselve.

I know a colleague that works at the Copy'N Mail. Never bothered to ask him for a discount.

If you need a job on campus, visit the Career Center and they will help you.
Once a quarter, the Career Center has an on-site job fair on the quad area in front of the marketplace.

I want to work at the coffe shop inside the marketplace or the new food court. Is it really minimum wage?
Bet there is a long waiting list at the student bookstore.

it can be difficult to find an office job, most offices only hire work-study students like myslef. most foundation jobs such as working at a food place hire anyone. check the carrer center for job postings

If you live in the dormitories, it is very easy to get a part-time job at the commons restaurant.
They have many shifts available each quarter.

I would love to work at the commons. You get free lunch or dinner buffet if it is during your shift. Only for students who live in the dorm?

Smile Anyone work on campus?

Anyone work on campus? Food court, information desk, T.A., or else where?
Knew a colleague that works at the Copy 'N Mail office (not sure if he registered here), jack works at the office of a graduate department, and nhbilly works as technician.

edit: Combined the two threads as it relates to each other. (08/23/2004)

I just attended a resume building workshop last week. During the workshop, the career center presentor told us that very few new jobs will be created on campus due to the budget cut. It is a pity.

I work at the bookstore, and it is easy to get a job here. All you have to do is apply about a week before the beginning of the quarter. Unfortunately you start out at minimum wage and it is very hard to get raises.

A colleague who use to work at the bookstore told me that you get a certain percentage of textbook discount. He quit the part-time job at the student bookstore after he purchased his textbooks.
