Rose Float Collection Featured on Web

ROSE FLOAT COLLECTION FEATURED ON WEB

Cal Poly Pomona University Library has recently mounted a new website featuring the Cal Poly Rose Float Collection. The site was made possible in part by a grant in 2003 frolm the Arroyo Seco Library Network. Web page design and construction done by Cal Poly Pomona student Cameran Ashraf and Project Manager, Danette Cook Adamson.

The Cal Poly Rose Float, jointly created at Pomona and San Luis Obispo since 1949, is the only student-built float in the annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. Cal Poly students have been building rose floats for over 50 years and have won over 40 awards, including many Princess Trophies for best display of animation, Founder's Trophies for most outstanding self-decorated float, Humor Trophies and Theme prizes.

Also included in the Cal Poly Rose Float Collection is a collection of Tournment of Roses Parade Official programs and pictorials dating back to 1912, which were donated by former float builder, Gene Taylor. The library would like to extend appreciation and thanks to the following organizations/groups for making this move possible:
  • Cal Poly Pomona Rose Float Alumni Association
  • Cal Poly Pomona Rose Float Committe/Club
  • Cal Poly SLO Rose Float Committee/Club
  • Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association

Does anyone know where I can find the Rose Float?
I tried to find it today on campus to take some photos. I thought it was near the horse ranch.

When I take the 10W freeway, I see a small white sign taht reads "Rose Float" on the right side of the road. It was around the horse ranch area.
