| Newcomer | Question regarding classes... During your freshman year in college what classes did you take? And how many classes do you recommend to take? I plan on majoring in Computer Engineering, so which classes would you recommend I take to those who actually major in CPE |

![]() | I had to take the remedial English (English 096), trigonometry, and psychology I think. I did not do well in trigonometry. Once you get your grades for the first two or three quarters, you should get familiarized with the quarter system and college responsibilities.

![]() | Depending on what else you plan on doing. I took 12 units my first quarter and I was bored. They were mainly GE classes so that probably explains why. I would suggest taking one or two "easy" classes, one in your major like an introductory class and one subject you least like so you can focus on it and get it out of the way. I suggest something like 16 units so if you ever need to drop down since your program will probably get harder as you get into more core classes. |

The reason why trigonometry was difficult was because the final grade was based entire on 3 exams (IIRC) and the lecture that the math professor gave was inefficient. I shouldn't really complain about that since there might have been one or two students that received an A. I did have a tutor help me on some homeworks, courtesy of the "Undeclared Department." ![]() Finish all your homework sets and if you've taken Trigonometry in high school, the chapters should refresh your memory. Good luck.

1) Russian, Teaches MATH and ME classes, has a thick accent, teaches lots of morning classes, assigns too much homework, grades homework for very little, talks to the board, and responds to questions... "what do you think?" 2) Japanese, Teaches high level MAT mostly, where's the same pants everyday, wears free shirts everyday, strict as heck, puts everyone down after every test, about 20% of the class passes, 4 Exams with lowest dropped, homework not graded. One free candy bar if you can guess 'em! Hah... really... i'll buy you a candy bar... if you take candy from strangers ![]() | |
