what to do w/ old books?

i have some old textbooks from 3 years ago and have heard through some of my friends whom have tried to sell the same books back to the bookstore and didn't allow it. i was wondering if there was any other way of selling these books to some other source besides ebay or through the bookstore. can somebody help me?

Burn 'em.

If you can't find a buyer try donating them to a library.

If you go to half.com or amazon.com you can enter the ISBN number of the book you want to sell and see what other people are selling it for as a used price. Most books that are 3 years + are worth not more then $5, but if it's still in print, or still used somewhere it might be worth more. Most of the time they're not. But at least you can get an answer to how much they're worth...

i had checked half.com and the books were selling around $5 bucks when they are all worth around $30. The books are all overstocked also so it feels like a waste of time to post them up. so i was wondering if there was other sources beyond ebay and amazon to where i could sell my books. but i do appreciate your help. thank you.

Try a local used bookstore. Not all of them pay for books, but some do. It's worth a shot, and its quick and easy.

I hate how publishers constantly make "revisions" to textbooks, basically making all previous versions obsolete according to the campus bookstore. Then you're stuck with near-worthless books, and people who need them are stuck paying for completely new books. I ended up giving mine away to a public library. You could probably write it off your taxes as a charitable donation, if were inclined to go through the trouble.

If you choose not to do any of the above, you can toss it in your blue recycling bin. The library should be your first stop.
