nice piece in paper today about broncos

pete marshall did a season wrapup story today on the broncos.

some highlights:

coach k. says this is a much better team than last year. (obviously)

he said the team hit its potential. (means he didn't expect a long playoff run)

he's hot about next year's team. (love in for larry and donelle)

he needs guards. (yeah....and who's coming in?)

rashad might be in trouble academically. (oh, oh...bad news)

only one signing so far, a juco kid who just so-so. time to step it up. let's go, coach bannon, and find some studs. any little ivan johnsons out there?

I read that article yesterday. I found some of it interesting. I was wondering who is the commit do you know who it is because you call him a so so player. I thought coaches can not mention about the name of the player to the media until signning of the case. If you do not know then how do you know how good of a player he is. Second I do not like hearing Rashad having academics problem. Third I want somebody who play like Ian Johnson, but I do not want a bad attitude player. I been reading he has had a bad attitude in Oregon and some other places he has been.

the scorecard is mixed on the beast. but face the facts, if the yotes go to the final four...and i think they will...it will be worth the fuss. he obviously has cleaned up his act or that team would not be dancing.

yes, the news about bias is scary. am hoping hall of fame has his usual insights from the inside.

on the one signee don't have details other than this is a role guy like pulido. i'm hoping we can nail a D1 bounceback who can contribute in all areas but in particular slash, penetrate, dish and shoot from range.

I do not mind a Pulido type of player because you need those type of players in order to win. I think if the person has a good outside shot he will be a good fit within the system. but signing period is still a couple of weeks until people can sign a player so the coaching staff has time to look around for some players.

to bronco fans out yonder roaming the campus with their heads down =(

I thought we werent going to mention Rashad Bias' name anymore. He is all but a forgotten memory people. Now that we got that out, we can move onto to this years team.

What did you guys really expect from this years team? .. a league championship, west regional title, elite 8 appearance, i mean come on people. They had 2 all league returning players in Cook and Gordon (FOY) and a bunch of role players. They were far more elite players in this league on other rosters across the league and yet we complain when the broncos dont make it out of the first round. It's good and all to cheer for the broncos and be such great fans, but we have to be realistic here with this years past team. They definitely hit their mark and overachieved a bit. Lets be honest, we didnt know which team would show up every game, would dion carry us tonight, will larry step up tonight, will kaelen be physical tonight and so forth.. Lets face it, this team couldnt jus show up and win games. Thats where this team ran into problems because the lack of being consistent.

Let's look at the bench people. There were 2 people coming off the bench that played important minutes in Booker and Neveu. Krause started in the first round of the playoffs people! Jus compare our bench to SB's. Case made. So this team definitely hit their potential this year, and we have to be satisfied and proud of what the broncos accomplished and focus on having another solid year next season.

The coaching staff including Coach Bannon are busting their busts to try and find some solid guards to fill shoes next year. I have confidence that they will, i mean come on, this is Cal Poly were talking about, who wouldnt want to come play for a playoff team? Before its all said and done, the broncos might have to tap into the recruiting whiz's pool of talent. For those of you who dont know who the recruiting whiz is, it is Coach Wachs, former bronco assistant coach now at LMU. He is the genious of recruiting and brought several key players to CPP sparking the championship era. He was responsible for bronco greats including, Jeff Bonds, David Sybesma, Jonathan Boyd, Hervey Malone and Dion Cook. He is also responsible for other role players including Kaelen Daniels and Kevin Neveu. Hey coach wachs, were in need of some guards, can you help us out please?

you know your game, hall of fame. i know steve wachs well and he is a whiz. guards are much easier to find than big men but we need a fit for the program and style, too.

i'm not overly down on this team. obviously a three seed should beat a six but as noted earlier without baby shaq at full speed you are working with kyle and other D2 role guys instead. chalk this one up to great coaching again for coach k.

looking forward to the larry, kaelen and donelle show next year. all we need is somebody who can slash, dish, and distribute, preferably as a long range threat like j boyd.

Well as fans I sometimes have unrealistic expectation. I think that my team can win the championship every year. I am actually down on my lakers right now, but I still have hope they can win the championship.

Hearing from people Coach Wachs was the one bringing in this great talent from the elite eight team, but still the current staff has been bringing in some great talent. The current staff brought in back to back freshman of year. Even though Coach Wachs was a great recruiter, but we still have some people who can recruit.

Anyways watching the Coyotes play right now. All I got to say are you kidding me. Everything is going right for them right now. They are shooting about 60% from the field. There defense is giving Wingate a hard time. Oh yeah they are up by 25 in the first half. Where was this Coyotes team during the regular season. If they play like this in Boston they have a good chance to win it all.

more awards for Dion. He was named first team all west regional team by NABC. Also Kevin Johnson from Humboldt was the other member of the all west region from the CCAA
