Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is better. I would choose SLO over Pomona. The tuition is the same for both universities. The housing and food fees might be a little different.
SLO might help you find jobs easier after graduation if you're an Electrical Engineering major but I don't have the statistical number to prove that.
It should not be difficult to get into Cal Poly Pomona if your grades and the courses you've taken reflects great performance in your part.

KWAK, thanks for your reply, but I would like to say that the Tuition for the universities are different. For me as an International student it will cost me about 27K in SLO and about 19K in Pomona..

My reply is late, but it may help someone...

I also transfered from a community college and my grades were sub par. Cal Poly gave me the chance to improve my grades because they have so many departments that offer tutoring... even the math dept.

I've never had to take math here at Cal Poly because I'm a business major. But I do hear that it's a pretty tough department... all I'll say is get as much tutoring as you need if possible.

There's a huge international community here @ Cal Poly, so you'll feel at home. You may even meet someone from Sudan at the African American Student Center (http://www.csupomona.edu/~aasc), and many are international students and/or engineers as well. We also have an International Students Center you can call to ask questions about tuition, if that concerns you. There are many opportunities to win scholarships as well, especially as an international student.

All of my roommates and most of my coworkers are engineers. All who have graduated or are graduating have gotten pretty good offers from companies such as Boeing and JPL. One decided to go to Stanford this Fall for her masters--tuition paid. There are atleast 2 main engineering job fairs held on campus every year (that I know of). It really pays to be an engineer here because the companies come to YOU.

I really think you'll have a great experience here. I'm sorry for some of the inappropriate responses here... maybe "lwong" from Cal Poly Pomona, maybe not. But in general we are welcoming in that there is always somewhere you can get support.

as i recall giants is a senior at SLO and always has made accurate and intelligent posts, both here and on other chat sites. SLO is the crown jewel of the system, and pomona typically is ranked either second of 23 or in a tight group of three or four schools behind our cal poly sister school--which, since it is about 30 years older, once was our mother school before we split long ago.

as noted above you likely will feel more "at home" on the pomona campus where only 30 per cent of the student body is white, compared to about three quarters or perhaps slightly more at SLO. regarding electrical engineering in particular both campuses are distinguished in this field. a diploma from either place likely will land you multiple job offers.

if you like a more traditional college town then go north. if you like all the attractions of a huge city within a half hour then go south. either way, you win. check out www.studentsreview.com to see what both students and grads say about their schools. both are rated very highly as you might expect.
