Mike Farrell's speech on the death penalty.

Did anybody see it? There was a verbal shoot out between Farrell and Christopher's family. It's understable why the family lashed out at Farrell but still they should calm down a little. Being angry and rude to people isn't going make them side with u.

Sorry, but I COMPLETELY believe the family was inline with their comments. Here this guy blocked what is currently defined to be justice in our state. I think they handled themselves quite well considering the circumstances. We can never really understand what it is like unless we are in their place.

The closest I have come is the Burmeister murder. The guy is in court right now pleading not guilty to the 2001 murder. Unbelievable.

My favorite part of the lecture yesterday was that NONE of the extreme leftist professors there came to Farrell's side when he was being questioned. Chickens.

I hate to sound harsh, but I was deinitely moved yesterday. Good topic david90.

mike farrell

if the administrator (who allowed Mr. farrell to speak )had any respect for the families this event would not have occured on campus.
loyalty and respect are key in a working environment.
the school owes the family a public apology on national television for allowing this to happen

my family has a few alumni in it too and I would be appauled if they were treated like this ........What about you ...... would you be proud of your school

Yeah I didn't hear about it either until my mom told me that John and Ken on KFI were talking about it.

Apparently from the sound clips they played there was a lot of media there (you could hear a bunch of camera shutter clicks) and there was a BIG applause after the mother finished her statement.

John and Ken gave out the administrator's csupomona e-mail address, but they said it was csupomona.net I called KFI and told them it was csupomona.edu, and I also gave them his office telephone number

for those of you who don't know the story, bill hughes has been the guy who has run our world famous arabian horse program on campus for 25 years. one day his small son was invited over to a classmate's home in chino hills for a sleepover with their parents.

sometime in the night this monster breaks into the home and slices up the entire family with a knife as if it were birthday cake including the little guest and the little girl who invited him. only the bigger brother survives after almost bleeding to death.

a new state law now requires DNA samples from all criminals. up comes a trillion to one (read: sure thing) match and of course the sterling citizen accused says he didn't do it. this is the same technology that finally caught up with the burmeister killer as well.

it was callous enough to bring this don't blame our killer guy to the campus where mr. hughes has been legendary but then our insensitive leaders have the gall to do it on the anniversary date...UNBELIEVABLE! !!!

imagine your little child being hacked to death and then this happens. i stand behind the hughes family. it was a day of shame for cal poly.

Again, I wasn't there, but I took a quick look at the video posted at http://video.csupomona.edu/CampusFor...rrell2-245.asx and it seems like Mike Farrell is the only speaker there.

What I think would have been far better would be to have one "pro" and one "con" person there, and have a debate. There would be a mediator asking the questions and keeping time, then the audience could ask questions and each person would be allowed a certain time to respond.

Isn't college supposed to be where you're supposed to "be tolerant of others"? Oh yeah, I forgot. "Be tolerant" of others until their viewpoints conflict with yours.

Scanner, you are very astute. This speaker is just one of many that CPP has each Wednesday at noon. The speakers are always someone controversial, with only one side presented. I have only started attending these this quarter, because my friend told me how horribly one-sided they are. The Mike Farrell one is no different.
The funniest part is most of the audience that day was anti-Mike Farrell. I loved it! Yeah, there was media EVERYWHERE, and the Hughes family brought in a lot of family members. I say GOOD FOR THEM, having the strength to confront this idiot that has contributed to their pain.
IF any of you are in for some good lies, c'mon in to the BSC (Centaurus Room) on Wednesdays at noon. The topics vary each week. If I can find a schedule of speakers somewhere, I will post it. (The organizer keeps it on the DL, I think he only wants his friends there, even though student money is used to fund this. YUCK!)
