Arrow Martial Arts/Karate Club @ Cal Poly Pomona

Hello,

I will be a new student to Cal Poly Pomona this fall, and I didn't notice a karate club. Does anyone have any information or would like to start a club?

(I am a 3rd kyu in shotokan karate.)

Thanks,

L Wong

I think that is only for beginners. But I am not sure, I can't get in touch w/ the instructor.

on the schedule of classes, it had two different sections: beginner and advanced karate. I don't know if it's still split apart or combined as just a regular karate class.

i think aikido became combined into one class.

sometimes, the teacher works at other schools, so it may be hard to contact them..ehe

There is only one Akido now because one of the instructor Iverson no longer teaches it.

Remember about half of Kinesiology classes will be cut for the fall 2005 quarter. Haven't checked if a Karate class will be offered for the fall.

Find an KIN instructor (or non KIN instructor) that is willing to start a Tae Kwon Do club. I don't think it would cost much or any money to start a campus club.
Actually, you might not require a Cal Poly instructor in order to start an organization. Should check out the OSL Office of Student Life office for more info on starting a campus charter.

Let me know who is really interested.

Please reply in this thread if you are enjoy in any of the following:

Martial Arts
Karate
Tae Kwon Do

The problem in forming a campus club is that the three art is very different and the students might like one but not the other. And a club usually focuses on one thing and 3 is like out of range.
What do you guys think?

What is this "first the piece of paper that we all are trying to obtain black" that you and KwonA3 are refering to?

Bit Dissapointed..

I have been doing MMA/JJ/Kick boxing, for a while now, and even though I am attending cal poly this fall I am VERY dissapointed at the fact that the university lacks SPORTS big time..... My main focus is going to be studies but, i dont know How i could live without..what i love to do. Plus I am planning on joining the Marines after college and I need to be in tip top shape while in college...

Dont tell me the school is THAT boring..i mean it has like 4 sports!#@$!

Let me know what you think along with any helpfull suggestions
thanks

I would be interested in joining a karate club yet I have not practiced for many years.

My father used to be a sensei of Shito-Ryu and taught me when I was a child. Now that I am moving to Cal Poly I think that I want to resume my studies in Shito-Ryu. Besides as a club activity would anyone know if any Dojos in the area which might teach Shito-Ryu?

Is there a kick boxing class? Not the aerobic kickboxing but real kick boxing.

I hope they don't take away dance class. I got my body all flexible and ready to go.

Does anyone know if there exists a Capoeira club/class? Also, if there are any Capoeira joints in the vicinity available at a low(reasonable) price?
