You have a meal plan at the commons which the food is average to bad. Resident halls are the same thing as dorms. Suites: The usual setup is 4 single rooms connected to a common area/kitchen. 2 bathroom too. A lot more privacy but they cost more then the dorms. Some suites are setup as 1 big double room (for 2 people) and 2 singles. I live in the suites right now, and definatly prefer them over the dorms. Usually, second year students or higher live in the suites. I don't think they have freshmans here because they have a lottery for the rooms every winter quarter. Suites are also not easy to get in if you missed the lotterly. Most of the cost comes from the meal plan. The only main advantage the dorms have is that they are more socialable, you'll meet more people. Suites, everyone pretty much keep to themselves within their unit. Village: Sorta offcampus apartments. Located on Temple and basically right next to the campus. They have the same setup as the suites, with 4 single rooms, common area, and kitchen, etc. The other setup they have is 2 big rooms with 2 people in each. Village is a lot older and runned down but they are building new buildings with super singles (big single rooms). Village is cheaper then the suites and has no meal plan(unless requested) so you basically have to cook your own food or eat out everyday. You have to be 21 years or older or have 36 or more units completed, basically, no freshmans. All of the dorms, suites, and village are furnished, get internet, and utilities already paid. |

Thank you for the very useful info! I am a transfer student for Fall '05. I am currently looking into living at the Suites, but if I have to, then the Village will be my 2nd choice. | |
