As I enter my first year as the president of your university, I am pleased to welcome you to the Cal Poly Pomona family. I join with our faculty, staff, administrators, as well as your fellow students, in wishing you the very best in this coming year. I have just assumed leadership of a strong and proud university that is at an important juncture in its history - one that you will help define with us.

You will find a university committedto sustaining a caring community; a place where the well-being of each member is supported and where service to others is encouraged. We each have a responsibility to create and maintain this sense of community, but in order for it to be vibrant, each of us must make an effort to become connected to the campus environment. I encourage you to become active on campus and contribute to our tradition of excellence and our commitment to community.

In the pages to follow, you will find a vast array of information and resources to help connect you with people, programs and services. The faculty, staff and administrators are committed to you and look forward to being partners in your pursuit of success.

Welcome to the 2003-2004 academic year, and thank you for choosing Cal Poly Pomona. As your new president, let us being our journey together. I wish for you a wonderful experience with many great accomplishments.
