Help with grading information.....

Well, as you guys know grades are up. I got a D- in FRL300. Does any one know if I have to re take this class. I am a CIS major, if that helps.

Thanks

John

Yes, you can retake a course and if you are satisfied with your new grade, you can pick up a grade replacement card in the registrar office (CLA building) and submit the card. You can replace your grade for the same course only once.
Or you can have both grades on your total g.p.a. if you like.

D is considered a passing grade for Marketing as far as I know; I heard my Prof say that to one of the students. Unfortunately, I am not too sure about CIS.

That's something new. I always thought anything under a "C" was not passing.

I would think that grade replacement is only for grades below a C (D and a Fail). But it never hurts to ask in the Registrar office (CLA Building).
I wish I had a choice where I can replace a B for an A.

I also thought that was the case. I guess what that means is that you could still graduate with a D in FRL if you are a Marketing major. Though I would rather go for a C or better instead of keeping that D.

I got a D in IME 301 and it is still considered passing. I was told I can get into IME 312 with a D grade. Sorry I don't know about CIS though.

For the CS students, we can take the same course twice more if the first try resulted in a grade below C. If the second or third tries graded higher, then the higher grade can be used to replace the previous grade.

However if we fail the same course three times, we will be placed on Mt.Sac to "catch up" on the course, then re-apply to get into CS again. It just sounds really harsh to me.

Is Mt. Sac college like all other colleges, where it is ridiculously crowded?

CIS students have two shots to pass any CIS course. If they fail twice in the same CIS course, they are kicked out from the CIS program, thus the university. I don't know what follows after that... maybe reapply from a Jr. College?
