| GCP.com Admin | Help me rid the campus of illegal business flyers!! This applies to both campuses equally as well. Anyone who spends any time reading the message boards has surely come across the "Earn $2000 a month, part time" messages or the "Management positions available" and similiar messages. I know from a friend's experience that most of these companies are purposely deceptive in trying to lure students to their business and exploting them for their own benefit. If the company name is not on the form, it's got a bad image. If the company name is on the page, avoid "Vector" (Knives) and "herbalife" (please post comments and add more if you know of other similiar companies.) Both companies are notorious for commission based sales jobs where you NEED TO PAY for training and motivational courses. These companies and others will continue to post on our campus as long as it remains profitable, so the best way to stop these posters and the exploitation of other fellow students is by taking these signs down. I've already started doing it, but I can't do it alone, please help put an end to these flyers by taking them down whenever you see them and encouraging your friends to do the same. Note: Do not take anything down that has a university approved stamp, and try to only target BUSINESS postings not "selling math 105 textbook for $35" postings. |

| GCP.com Admin | It's illegal to post or solicit on campus without permission from the university. You're not even allowed to hand out flyers without permission, MOST THINGS are acceptable. Repeat violaters can face fines of $500 or more, and up to 6 months in jail in as little as the 3rd violation. It'd be easy to find the law, its discussed when you look into getting things "stamped" for pin-ups. |

| GCP.com Admin | If you are unfamiliar with herbalife or vector based companies they are very similiar in marketing models. They are scams, they are deceptive. For stories of people from herbalife please refer here: http://www.cockeyed.com/workfromhome/epilogue/unsuccessful/unsuccessful2005.htm l |

| Guru | I have had friends that have worked for both, the vector, and herbalife. They had quit after a while because they said too much pressure to sell. Vector sells expensive knives. I had a friend make demonstrations to many members of the church. I really didn't like that idea. The herbalife... i have had a friend who had good experience with taking their drugs, but that is just 1 case. Another of these businesses is selling colognes/perfumes (fake ones btw). Some guy that i know from church, his daughter does that. Last time i remember, her boss was SUPPOSEDLY saving her checks to give her 1 big fat check... it was ATLEAST 6 months since she has gotten a check. I am ashamed to say how latin ppl fall 4 these kinds of things ![]() |

![]() | I'll start removing the flyers whenever I see one. My friend started working for Quixtar (a very popular MLM, google Quixtar for more info) company since January. I tried many times to tell him to quit his so-called business because the company is giving false promises. Promises like early retirement, five-figure income on a monthly basis, time rich and money rich, and etc. are luring new members each month. Unfortunately after several attempts, I failed to convince him. I recently attended a two-day function prepared by Quixtar and I was hesitant to go but he bought me the admission pass. I could not BELIEVE IT! The business concept was brilliant! I bet the top management team, board of directors, owners of the company are raking in $$. The function had motivational speakers, live performances, seminar, product promotions, and more motivational speakers. All attendees were hyped up, motivated, energized, and ready to STP after the conclusion of the function. But of course, I saw the big picture and my opinions about the MLM company did not change. Here is an excellent article about multi-level marketing (MLM): http://www.stopspam.org/faqs/mlm_vs_pyr.html |

![]() | Didn't representatives from Vector Knife, more known as Cutco come to our campus? I think I've seen them setup a small booth near the marketplace. Heard you can gain valuable business skills by becoming a Cutco representative. Custom/people relation skills and communication skills. Quote:

Most of these companies REQUIRE you to spend money BEFORE you can work for them. They pray on college students because they normally have extra time, are ignorant, and have money available to them. The way we sometimes accept deceptive and explotive business practices is disturbing for the future of our society. | |
