gwt on 10/16

I took it at 1:30, and had to write about a controversy. I wrote about how some people believe that Walmart stores are running mom and pops stores out of business and they engage in illegal practices.
I finished with the line, "I don't care if they hire retarded seven year olds to lick the floor clean, as long as I can buy cheap things, I am happy."

I think they grade on the writing itself, not what we write, i.e. they can't punish us for our thoughts. Late on satuday night, I realize that they are going to fail me. Can they fail me because I wrote something stupid?

Wow, you make ME want to fail you!! But personal politics aside, it really depends on the professor grading it. Some are objective and will grade you on whether or not you met the objective of the paper. For example you clearly showed your research on both sides of the issue, or if it's an English, you used the proper writing style requested. Other professors are very biased and grade on a personal subjective scale. Failing you just because of the last sentence in your paper sounds a little extreme to me. However if your entire paper consisted of statements like that, then I can see that paper easily being failed.

How were you able to take it before having completed 90 units?

its between like 90 units and 120 units I think. I took it because calpoly sent me a letter. Prior to that I had no idea what a GWT was.

The reason I asked was because I noticed that your profile says that you are 20. Two years ago, you would have been 18 and probably a freshman. Did you begin college at an early age or did Cal Poly make a mistake about when you needed to take the GWT?

They seem to have amazingly random topics for that test. I took it a few years back and had to write what I would put in a time capsule to show to future generations what the 90s were about. I also know that they once had a topic that ask you to design a CD label and what you would put on it.... These were topics prolly in 2001 or 2002, I can't remember when I took the test...

Wow that is amazingly random. I guess they just need to make sure that you can do more than just spell your name and fill in scantron bubbles.
