![]() | I know you must meet grad requirements to participate in the graduation ceremony, but I've known people who have unofficially "walked". How is that possible? Don't they check on commencement day? Is there a list of participants or some sort of check-in, or is it true that you just fill out a card with your name and they use that card to call your name? |

![]() | My group in the previous class were just talking about this. The professor told us that any students with a cap and a gown can walk down the stage on the graduation ceremony. You simply need to write down your name on a notecard and hand it to the announcer before you walk down the stage. You then are "unofficially" walking down the stage with the fake diploma. If that is what you like to do, there is no problem with participating in the graduation ceremony. The official procedure is to apply for a grad check, get signed off by your department advisor, and proceed with the ceremony. There are deadlines to apply for the grad check. Students who applied on the month of February will not hear an answer back from the registrar office until the month of June or later. Best bet is to check your major sheet and go down the list of all the courses that you have actually completed to rest assure. |

![]() | Thanks for the info. For personal reasons and time-sensitive matters I would need to "walk" this year, because I might not be able to "walk" next year. I just didn't want to go there the day of the ceremony and then the school turns me down and tells me I am not on a list and not allowed to participate. I bought a cap and gown, but had to fill out my name, e-mail, and degree, and I was worried and am wondering if they use that info. to check against an official list. |

| Guru | I'm walking this next 3 weeks. My day is on Friday night however, because that's when Engineering is having theres. I'm real excited.I submitted my grad check about 4 months ago. Just recently (about 1 - 1.5 months ago) I got my grad check back thru e-mail letting me know which courses are left. Then about a week ago I got a letter from mail congratulating me, and giving me instructions on graduation day and what I should bring and stuff. |
