![]() | How do graduate schools in general consider the GPAs of students from lower ranked universities? For GRE scores, no adjustment needs to be made since the scores are standardized. But the GPAs of Cal Poly Pomona students, for example, are obviously not comparable to GPAs of students that attend one of the UCs since the classes are more difficult there. |

![]() | A Civil Engineering alumna (math tutor) told me that the G.P.A. earned from a Cal State and UC are weighted the same. That is why he attended Cal Poly Pomona rather than a UC to finish school with 3.84 GPA. He is now attending USC masters program under Civil Engineering. If you get a chance, ask your counselor in the career center to get a detailed answer. |

![]() | That is interesting. I asked a career counselor a while ago about this because I found out that UCB has a set number of points that are deducted depending on which school the applicant is from. The counselor did not know about anything related to this policy. I'll probably end up contacting various universities to find out their individual policies regarding GPAs. |
