![]() | Hey guys, I need to finish area D4 in the GE and would like some recommendation from those that have taken D4. Which one is easy on the workload and fun at the same time? Options so far are - ANT 350, EC/PLS 420, HST 406, HST 421, KIN 370, RS 302, and URP 475. |

| Enthusiast | I'm taking Human Sexual Behavior:Relationshi ps (PSY 455) this quarter which satisfies area D4. This course is both informative and fun at the same time. You have an opportunity to look at the various types of relationships including frienships and romantic relationships. The workload in the course is not very demanding, so its good to take it with some difficult classes. That way there is a good balance to your schedule. |

| Enthusiast | The professor I currently have for PSY 455 is Dr. Lori Barker-Hackett. She is an excellent professor who gives detailed explainations along with straightforward examples to help illustrate the concepts being discussed. The textbook and her additional readings are pretty interesting and easy to understand. Simply put, whatever concepts you do not understand while reading the text, Dr. Barker will clarify in class the following day. There is a combination of lecture and small group discussion in the class. However, the small group discussions allow you to apply the concepts you have learned to your life by sharing some your experiences with fellow classmates. |

| Cal Poly Guru | I advise against KIN370. A colleague is taking that course and all she does is read "2-3 books" and write reports, how is that for a STRESS MANAGEMENT class?

For instance, ANT 350 class is listed under area D4 in the 2003-2005 university catalog. Does the GE apply towards our curriculum even if ANT 350 is no longer listed under area D4 of the 2005-2007 catalog? Quote:

| Enthusiast | I'm not sure about that. I would recommend you to do the following- if you have taken a course like ANT 350, let's say, for area D4 because it was listed in the 2003-2005 catalog, but now is no longer listed as a course that you can take for area D4 according to the 2005-2007 catalog just put that course either towards your unrestricted electives or the approved 300-400 level course electives located in the middle column of the cirriculm sheets. I think everything would work out okay because you could designate ANT 350 towards another area and satisfy the GE requirement by taking a course that is listed under D4 of the current catalog. Does that make sense? However, I just glanced at the 2005-2007 catalog right now and noticed that ANT 350 is still listed as a social science synthesis course, so you would be just fine. I hope this helps. |
