first regional poll

The first regional poll is out and to my surprise the Broncos are the 8th seed in the first region. i am a bit surprise with some rankings, but right now I am happy that the Broncos would be in the tournament if season ended today. This means the Broncos need to continue winning because they contro their own destiny.

1. Alaska Anchorage 16-0 10-0
2. Cal State San Bernardino 15-2 13-2
3. Chaminade 10-2 10-2
4. Seattle Pacific 12-3 7-3
5. Northwest Nazarene 9-2 7-2
6. Central Washington 9-5 8-5
7. Humboldt State 10-5 10-5
8. Cal Poly Pomona 8-5 7-5
9. Cal State L.A. 10-4 8-4
10. Brigham Young-Hawaii 10-5 7-5

I think all are good teams ahead the Broncos, but I expect Northwest Nazarene to fall back to earth. I guess the regionals might be heading up to the bitter cold if this season continues.

that's great news, lakdod...and reflects perhaps the greatest bronco comeback in school history if they keep it up.

but the back half of this league schedule is downright scary. seven of the remaining ten games are roadies with nothing assured. we need to go 7-3 or 6-4 at worst to remain in the conversation.

the top three schools in the region all have very impressive records, including experience against DI teams.

we all know about how the yotes dominated big sky champion weber state before bowing down before UCLA.

the seawolves meanwhile defeated new DI team bakersfield and had narrow losses to western kentucky and eastern washington--all not counted in the regional record.

and the typically shaky pac west team, chaminade, has already defeated both humboldt and princeton of the ivy league and had very competitive games with powerhouses marquette and LSU.

our being placed ahead of LA foretells a war over in the eagles nest.

we're awaiting lakdod's always astute predictions.
