HOW EASY TO TRANSFER???

hey everybody...is it easier to transfer between the two cal polys than other schools since they are sister schools that actually were the same university once? my friend at slo wants to know....

you are funny, dragon...pomona used to be a branch of slo from the 1930s until around the 1950s or so. eventually the little sister became the big sister, and now pomona is bigger than slo. there are some interesting posts about why the two campuses don't do much anymore. hey, road trips to slo would be fun! any takers?

I would think transferring from San Luis Obispo to Pomona would be easier than transferring from Pomona to San Luis Obispo. But I could be wrong due to the number of students being accepted due to the budget cut.

In terms of transfer, it does not matter at all what school you previously attended, as long as it was accredited. One exception to this; California gives higher transfer priority to upder division community college transfers. Hence, if you are attempting to transfer from a CSU or UC, you are at a definite disadvantage. Hope this Helps! -S

thanks wagner, i understand where the poly connection comes in is what's called articulation. the colleges and curriculums and courses are so similar that you don't lose credits as much as you might from transferring from other types of schools, say like from st marys or chapman. but i did not get that cc part??? it sounded like you said a cc student gets a priority over a transfer from another 4 yr school? as long as accredited?

That's what I understood too, and it makes sense to me. Upper division community college students are about to finish all that their college has to offer, and have nowhere to go after that, so they HAVE to transfer to a 4-year university to continue on to their degree. Students already at a 4-year university won't be so out of luck if they dont get in. They are at least already in a university and can continue on with some 4-year program should their transfer be rejected. This is probably why community college students get priority.
