why don't the cal polys do anything together???

clue me in

if we have two cal polys the best i know is that the only thing the two schools do together is put together a float for television on new year's. i thought these were sister schools

yeah, i know pomona doesn't have a football team anymore but why no big basketball rivalry or baseball or something? it's like the two schools just have the same name and not much else. am i missing something here?

Booo San Luis Obispo thinks too highly of themselves. The 2 Cal Polys should be rivals like UCLA vs. USC.

People at Cal Poly Pomona wouldn't care? Since majority of the students are commuters anyway, it seems all they care is taking classes, go to work or home (I could be wrong, i'm no commuter).

i have friends at both ucla and usc who are commuters to those schools. both schools have lots of commuters. it sounds like you guys are using commuting as an excuse to do nothing. i go to school to both learn something and to do something. i thought cal poly was better than the rest of he csu system.

got an answer to my question...am told in sports cal poly north is in a different conference than cal poly south and that you snobs up there on the central coast won't schedule us in anything. are you slo mustangs afraid of getting mugged driving through los angeles or what?

or is this state budge thing so bad that we can't drive more than twenty miles in any direction?

THE PREZ TALKS ABOUT US BEING GREAT

AND WE HANG OUT WITH SCHOOLS NOBODY EVER HEARD OF.

WE NEED TO GET ORGANIZED AND TELL HIM IT'S TIME TO STEP UP AND START PLAYING USC AND UCLA

AND EVEN YOU SNOBS/SLOBS UP AT SLO.

NOBODY WILL PLAY US EVEN IN BOWLING AS LONG AS WE ARE BURIED IN A STINKER CONFERENCE AGAINST STINKER SCHOOLS.

WE HAVE MORE THAN 20,000 STUDENTS HERE AND WHO SHOWS UP FOR OUR GAMES BUT....CAL BAPTIST????? STANISLAS

There is only ONE thing that I know of that they do together and I think that is the ROSE PARADE. Pomona does its half and SLO does the other and SLO brings theirs down to get it ready for JAN 1st

Yup. It has been a tradition for so many years and more to come. Have won many awards in the past years. Good for them. The Cal Poly Rose Float are always looking for student volunteers.

well im kinda more apathetic than most, actually to the point of being antisocial. but most ppl care about different things, in general, we dont care about the other cal poly though, we dont even talk about it and i think a lot of people dont even know it exists

maybe our rose float club at pomona should play the float club at slo in chess or something. since it's mostly smart kids who go here who don't like sports we could be good in something other than studying....

We lost our football team in the early 1980s because it was growing increasingly expensive to maintain, and we lost to the tune of 4-91 (Or some horrible score like that) to Portland State during the final season.

you're right, xkai...the last poly coach was the old los angeles ram quarterback roman gabriel. the equipment guy over at kellogg gym was a lineman on that team. the big game every year was with our poly sister school. now we have to get drunk watching...yawn...so ccer. those 0-0 ties really are exciting, aren't they bronco fans?

but i did hear that we have a good debate club session with slo. anybody for something exciting like x-games? or even food fights?

Maybe we should challenge SLO to a poker match. Call it Pomona hold 'em...LOL...seriousl y, did you guys kno that SLO is expanding its football stadium? At Pomona the stadium is condemned and needs to be torn down!

Although I don't know anything about academic or "friendly" competitions with both Polys, but I don't think it's possible for Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly SLO to ever face each other at this time in NCAA athletic competition...we're (Pomona) Div. II, and SLO's Div. I.

It's actually kind of boring not to have a team, as I don't think our school spirit is that prevelent. Of course, the fact that most people don't dorm isn't helpful either, but it's not like the university seems particularly interested (They could have used state bond acts) in redoing the 40 year old dorms and actually building larger ones that aren't having the rebar rust and the walls shearing off like a chunk in front of Palmitas did..
