Heh, that's a good point too! I can imagine some organizations are serious about their cause all the time that sometimes they just need to cut loose and have some fun. OR some organizations the whole point is to gather and have fun. For on-campus organizations I would imagine this is the case. Students have so much studying, testing and life choices to worry about that an outlet for fun is hard to come by. It's possible if we were to one day ask one of these CPP painters, "What statement were you trying to make by painting those letters?" The person may just laugh and go, "Statement? Heck, it was just plain fun!"
and regarding the all-caps typing. i can understand if you're not a great typer and find capitalization slows you down even more. it's actually better to not use any capitalization at all than to use all-caps. in this paragraph i havn't capitalized anything and it is much more readable than all-caps. give it a try.
