They say that most of the engineering grads coming from the UC schools are really good at mathematical skills, but if it came to designing and building systems, they either are lousy at it or can't do it at all. Because there are so many labs, you really get a feel for hooking systems up, running tests, and seeing how components operate in the "real world" and not by an equation or two. The lab equipment may be ancient, but the general skills are there. |

![]() | but still if an employer is gonna choose between a ucla grad and a cpp grad, does not the ucla grad have the favor? or is the fact that a high school grad chooses ucla over cpp to get a better job completely abitrary? dont get me wrong i chose cpp over uc irvine because i felt that cpp would teach me better in the field, but i just wanted to hear your opinions. |

![]() | Another great point, xx....unless the employer is a trojan or bruin grad our ppl stack up pretty good by comparison. I am amazed at what kind of senior projects we are getting to do all over campus, from bldg design in arch to the collins restaurant to those biz classes you mention where they go present to major execs at places like paramount and MGM. SLO is great but you can't get that all important face time in sleepy san luis like you can here in so cal. By the way, we just hired a new Dean of Biz...and unlike all the academic stiffs before this guy was the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Maybe he will clean out some dead wood and lift our school even higher!!! I think all our biz majors should go see this guy when he arrives in june. anybody agree? go poly!!![/quote] |
