Conference tournament for basketball

Next year both men and women basetball will have a conference tournament that will decide the automatic bid to the tourney. There will be 8 teams from the conference. The first round are held in the top seads home court. The winners will advance to semis and finals in Cal State San Bernardino. I think they rotate the location between San Bernardino and UCSD.

I am mixed about having the tournament I like that if the broncos have a bad season they have a chance to make the dance, but I do not like it because conference schedule is already tough and to play Humbolt or San Bernardino 3times with the possibility of four times is brutal. I read a article about the conference tourney and both Coach K and the San Bernardino coach are against the tourney.

this is a gig the commissioner has been pressing for since he signed on and apparently mustered enough votes among athletic directors to push it through.

it favors the have not programs since somebody could get hot over one week and go dancing with a losing record. the higher programs like those of the broncos and coyotes have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

i think the commish would like to get this event on TV or at least a statewide podcast with big press support. of course it's the biggest sport the league puts on since there is no football.

I agree jay, bad idea from the commish. Nothing can come out of the this tourney for the broncos except for more missed class time, more games that will tire out the the players with the short rotation late in the season and an upset loss from the broncos. Bad idea on the CCAA tourney...
