Cool COME ON OUT TO THE GYM FRIDAY!

hey everybody...was not sure where to post this but for many this will be an introduction to our GREAT basketball teams this year!!! both teams are well placed to go to the men's and women's Big Dance, the NCAA playoffs, and this weekend they both can take over first place in the conference races.

the men are led by jeff bonds and dave sybesma, and they are both in the top three in the league in scoring and both are all american candidates. the men's team is 14-5 and has won 13 of the last 15 games.

the women are led by candace allen, and she merely leads in the NATION in scoring with an average of almost 31 points per game. she already has broken the scoring record in conference with a mere 50 points. the women are FIVE TIME national champions and are tied for first with a 15-4 record.

oh by the way, free pizza, free hot dogs, burgers, face painting, t shirts, and free admission with any cal poly id card.

not a bad deal for friday night. first game at 5:30, second at 7:30 pm. bring the gang!

Smile great fun!!!

i went to that pack the gym night and it was great fun!!! it was the most rowdy i ever have seen that big of a crowd of poly students ever get, including one guy who the ref threw out of the game...no, not a player, one of our students!

the cheerleaders threw all kinds of free stuff into the crowd including entire boxes of pizzas, and there was TONS of free food and other stuff all over the place.

and if you like basketball--i am not a big sports nut--the teams are both really, really good, too!
check it out...see you there!!!
ps--i will be the cute one wearing the green and gold sweatshirt, with cal poly on the front.
who is doing the after game party? at the suites maybe?

Greetings students!
It is with great appreciation that I thank you for a record-setting evening at the “Pack the Gym Night” last month. With your support, we broke the regular-season Kellogg Gym attendance record and swept our arch nemesis Cal State San Bernardino.

Thanks to you, our men’s and women’s teams are now battling for first place in the conference. Please come back and help us battle for the title by cheering on the teams on Friday, Feb. 11 when we take on conference rival Cal State Bakersfield. Both teams are making strong runs for the NCAA Division II playoffs and your support is what the teams need to get there. It’s BRING BACK THE PACK NIGHT!

Please make plans to attend the free pizza tailgate party from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. on the north side of Kellogg Gym, behind the Bronco Bookstore.
Enjoy the games and live performances by the Cal Poly Pomona Cheer Squad, the Bronco Pep Band, Barkada, and Sigma Kappa Sorority. The women tip-off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.

All students with a valid Cal Poly Pomona ID are admitted to basketball games free.
Don't forget to wear your green and gold at the game! I look forward to seeing all of you there.

another great crowd at the gym, almost 1,500 with the crazies painting their bodies green and gold and one insane bro wearing a ridiculous yellow afro!!!
and the white dude who got thrown out of the san berdoo game taunted the refs but only pushed them far enough to be funny. hilarious!!!
our men now have moved into first place in the conference (11-3) but the women got upset in overtime and now slipped into second a game back. now both teams have HUGE games with cal state chico back at the gym saturday night. students and staff get in FREE with ID cards, too.

Why, was that you?

I think half the fun of going to the games is to see what crazy things our peers do... let's just call it... creativity.

didn't see anything other than basketball last night so the "big show" must be tonight...unless our weird friend is still looking for a rain slicker, that is.....

if men win they go to 18-5 and 13-3 going into winner take all showdown at san berdoo next friday night at their place. women have same record with winner take all game at dominquez the following week.

jb,
i didn't see anything unusual at the game just the typical free candy, pizza and t-shirts. the men played great!
now they are in first place again and will play for the conference championship saturday at cal state san bernardino. understand the school is sending a bus or two with students, the cheerleaders and pep band. maybe a keg, too? will let all know details if i find out more!
xx

thank you xiaoxue, am hearing that there will indeed be a bus or buses heading over to the BIG SHOWDOWNS at CSUSB. men are 18-5 and now ranked 22d in the nation, women are 17-6 and were 20th last poll i saw. men can grab their first conference title in 24 years and may go very far into the NCAA playoffs. i am trying to discover what time the bus leave campus. only four games to play so a playoff bid almost certain with two home games next week, wed and fri, to end an awesome regular season!

from an email I got--

Bronco Fans,

Thanks to your support, our men's basketball team is tied for first
place and our women are chasing another conference title.

Both teams are making strong runs for the NCAA playoffs, and we need
you now more than ever.

Please come and support both teams on Saturday when we take-on
conference rival Cal State San Bernardino in the biggest showdown of
the year.

The Bronco and Coyote men are tied for first place, and the winner of
Saturday's matchup will likely walk away conference champion. It's
been more than two decades since our men accomplished such a feat.

On the women's side, a Bronco win could launch us into the playoffs
and toward another national championship.

The games are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30
p.m. at Coussoulis Arena on the Cal State San Bernardino campus.
Students with a school ID pay $3.

If you need a ride, catch the booster bus at 4:30 p.m. in front of
Kellogg Gym. Food and drinks will be provided. Seating is limited so
you must RSVP for a seat on the bus. To RSVP call (909) 869-2810.

For more information on Bronco Athletics visit
www.broncoathletics. com Don't forget to wear your green and gold to
the game! We look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you for your enthusiastic support of the Cal Poly Pomona
basketball teams!

Sincerely,

Greg Kamansky
Head Men's Basketball Coach

Paul Thomas
Head Women's Basketball
