Change in Service Hours and Business Practices (E-Mail)

Change in Service Hours and Business Practices (Email)
A Message to Cal Poly Pomona Students:

Throughout the spring, the campus community engaged in a broad-based exercise, identifying ways to address anticipated shortfalls in the proposed 2004-05 general fund budget and the associated impacts. Based on this collective input, a plan was developed to address the loss of resources without dramatically affecting support for the university community.

Although the final budget has not yet been signed by the Governor, every
indication is that the proposed budget developed by the campus will be enacted, effective July 1. This calls for the need to implement identified reductions in select administrative services. Please take special note of the following changes.

* University Cashier Services Business Hours – Effective July 12, regular
walk-up business hours will change to the following:

Monday through Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friday * 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

* Discontinuance of Travel Advances – Reduced staffing in the Accounts Payable
department has significantly impacted the turnaround time to process travel
expense claims. To address this problem, the university will no longer issue
travel advances. Instead, the department will focus its resources on regular
claims processing, keeping turnaround times as rapid as possible. Travelers are advised to submit their expense claims as soon as possible after the conclusion of the trip and are encouraged to apply for the American Express Government Card for use while traveling on official university business. Travelers are also reminded that registration fees and airline tickets can be paid in advance of their trip by completing a purchase requisition and attaching the applicable registration form or travel agency invoice. These documents will be processed by University Financial Services Accounts Payable department for payment directly to the vendor. Questions regarding this change can be directed to Shelly Montoya at x2014.

* Human Resource Services - Effective July 12, the business hours for the
Customer Service Center will be 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday *.
This will enable HR to perform some essential functions during off-hours
including paycheck distribution preparation and employment communication.
Should you have any questions, please contact Ann Overman-Scott, Director of Human Resources at x4987.

* For summer 2004, Student Accounts & Cashier Services and Human Resource Services will be closed on Friday, July 23, Friday, August 6 and Friday, August 20.

Subject: Fall Registration
From: "University News" <universitynews@csup omona.edu>

A Special Message to Cal Poly Pomona Students:

Fall registration appointments were supposed to have been available July 13th. However, there were some technical difficulties and the information will not be accessible until early next week. Please accept our apologies for the delay.

In addition, on page 2 of the printed summer class schedule, September 1 was erroneously listed as a holiday. This is not a campus holiday and final exams will be held. Please see page 5 of the summer class schedule for exact dates and times.

The correct date for the holiday should have been listed as September 6, 2005.

Office of the Registrar
