![]() | Try to boost up your g.p.a. to 3.0 and higher. Your S.A.T. score will be very critical, depending on your overall g.p.a. score. San Luis Obispo is a very competitive school to get in, so don't take risk. And of course, take as much A.P. course that you can handle. Correct me if I'm wrong, getting an A in an honors/regular class is better than getting a C on an A.P. class.

![]() | I pretty much got into CalPoly Pomona with a much lower GPA than yours--transfer GPA though. Now I'm in the CIS department and I have worked it up much higher than that in a year. I'm not trying to say don't bother about GPA, but know that it's not impossible with your GPA. If you're a sophomore, you can work on raising your GPA. One factor though may be due to the closing of admissions for all of this year--when it opens up again, they may have tighter standards as far as admitting students, period. * Cal Poly has two schools of this type (Polytechnic--"Learn By Doing" philosophy"): Pomona and San Luis Obispo. Pomona's in Los Angeles County, whereas San Luis Obispo is north of us. www.calpoly.edu <----San Luis Obispo www.csupomona.edu <---- Pomona |

![]() | Isn't there a new rule, where if you are in the top 5% or so in your graduating class, you are guaranteed to get into at least one UC university you apply to? Maybe, this applies to Cal State university? Joining a baseball team would be a plus if you were to apply to a UC, since UC applications asks for your experience, hobbies, talent and extra curriculum activities accomplished in your high school year. For Cal State admissions, they don't ask you for such info. Just your G.P.A. and your S.A.T. scores. Keep it up with your classes and who knows, you might have a chance.

![]() | Wish I had paid more attention back in my high school years. I was stuck with this notorious physics teacher and he literally screwed up my g.p.a. ![]() I'll never forget him. You know that for Cal States, your freshman grades does not count in the cumulative g.p.a. Meaning, the g.p.a. that the Cal State and Cal Poly admissions look at is from your second year to your fourth year. And class like physical education and teachers assistance (t.a.) does not count towards your cumulative g.p.a. Good luck mate. ![]() |

![]() | pamn07, please refrain from posting the same posts on other categories! There is really nothing much you can do since most academic institutions (especially universities) have a deadline that they all hold unto. If you did not apply within the timeframe, you are SOL. If you had sent the admission department an early notice of why you can not apply within the timerange, you may have got a chance. Probably need to wait next quarter or whenever they will accept your application again. |

I'm guessing that you might need to apply as "undecided". If I had done that in the first place, I probably would have entered the university a little sooner. But no regrets though. I came to find out that the major I was applying for, CIS, has been impacted for many years. The last time I applied as CIS the major was open. I came in as Business Undeclaired. I didn't realize that it was okay to be undeclared and when the time came all I needed to do was fill out a small application to be a CIS major, and that was it. You may want to consider changing your status as Undeclared, and then when you get admitted you can change to your major. | |

You know there is a budget cut at Cal Poly Pomona so getting accepted will be a lot more competitive.
