The Cave needs new PC!

I think the cave (pc workstation below the marketplace) needs to get rid of the 10 year old desktop and replace it with the Dell workstations.
Those antique computers are ridiculously slow; takes about a good minute to open up Internet Explorer.

I like the new Dell workstations in the 4th and 5th floor of our library.

I completely agree with you.

To add on, the cave needs A/C to keep the computers from overheating all the time.

ya those PC's are slow, but I'd still rather use those over the macs anyday. By the way, the best lab on campus is definitely the CLA lab (5th floor) because all of the comuters are the new dells.

Everytime I went to the cave the A/C was on full blast. It was around 70 degress in there.

Actually I did go there one time with a friend when a quarter just started. It was about 80 degrees, but the place was PACKED with people adding/dropping classes.

What are the hours and days of the lab?
Is it open to all majors?

If I'm not mistaken, the labs are only for business/CIS students.
But then, no one checks and you simply sign in and sit at any lab station.

Even with new computers, they'll be boggled down with crap like spyware, viruses, or other stupid things people do to them. They'll be no better then the old computers. Although I never use the computers at the Cave, I am assuming people use them for basic needs like internet, word, or powerpoint. They should just replace the computers with new Macs with Office installed in them. That way, they have less of a chance from being turned into crap within months.

My USB pen drive works everywhere except in the 4th and 5th floor PC's. I think that they have disabled USB capability even though the USB ports are exposed.

The old white Dell PC's in the marketplace need a USB extension for USB pen drives.

The 4th or the 3rd floor lab in the CLA building.
There are a few Dell computers in the cave but only a few.

For some reasons, students prefer to use a PC rather an Apple Mac. And since both Dell and Apple give a substantial discount to Cal Poly, the school is more likely to get PCs. The computer admin(s) can disable many features in Windows XP to deter students from downloading and installing crap and spywares.

If you plug in the usb into the moniter, (left side) it no work

try plugging it into the computer itself (on the right side, look for it.)

It won't work on either

On the GOOD news, the marketplace lab now has USB extensions
