Campus Parking Update

University Prepares for Construction of New Parking Structure and Parking Expansions

Parking & Transportation Services, in partnership with Facilities Planning & Management, has begun a series of replacement parking lot expansions to offset the spaces that will be lost during the construction for Parking Structure I in Lot F. In total, 650 additional parking spaces will be created throughout the campus by mid-February 2005, with additional spaces coming later in the academic year. The following is an expected construction schedule:

Parking Lot Q Temporary Expansion
Parking Lot Q is located between Scolinos Baseball Field and the Residential Suites housing community. A 387-space expansion began on Nov. 29 and will be completed in two phases. The first phase of 204 new spaces, which includes eight fully accessible spaces with immediate access to Kellogg Gymnasium, will be complete in early January 2005. The second phase of 183 additional spaces will begin in mid-January. This temporary expansion is anticipated to be available until 2007, at which time the Residential Suites housing community is expected to expand in this location.

Parking Lots E1/E2 Permanent Expansion
Parking Lots E1 and E2 are located directly in front of the Agriculture Engineering Building (#45) and the Interim Design Center (#89), respectively. A 144-space expansion is scheduled to begin in late December and is anticipated to be complete in late January 2005.

Parking Lot K Permanent Expansion
Parking Lot K is located along Temple Avenue. An undeveloped section next to the street will be converted to add 119 new spaces. This is scheduled to begin in mid-January.

Parking Structure I Update
The design of Parking Structure I is complete and the project is expecting to receive formal bids from prospective general contractors on Dec. 21. If the university accepts a bid, the selected contractor will begin mobilizing on the campus in January 2005, with construction beginning around early February 2005. Parking Structure I will add 2,388 spaces and is scheduled to be complete for the start of Fall Quarter 2006.

For more information on these projects, contact Parking & Transportation Services at (909) 869-3061 or Facilities Design & Construction at (909) 869-4100.

You didn't post the web link so that we can see them covering up one of the softball fields for a temp. parking lot.
