Lightbulb Dorms

How are the dorms at CalPoly SLO, especially the newly built dorms? Are your roomates easy to get along with?

They rock! The new dorms are actually apartments on campus; the complex is called Cerro Vista. Everyone has their own room, high speed internet access, an *awesome* view of SLO, and once-a-week housecleaning.

How hard is it to get a room in the Cerro Vista complex? How would one go about getting a room?

Cool Question for Kaycee!

How are the dorms at Cal Poly SLO? My uncle who works there told me the dorms are pretty small, and that there are Coed bathrooms. Can you give me your perspective on the dorms at SLO? I just wanted to get more information on what I will be expective if I were to go to Cal Poly SLO for college of 2005.

Also Kaycee! Is it true that while you receive your dorms, you could actually choose your roommate by their personality? Example... if you don't smoke, and you were to choose a roomate who doesn't smoke...etc.?

Why me?? j/k
I don't know about San Luis Obispo (I'm a Pomona student) but when you apply for the residence, you do fill out a form and tell a little about yourself and preferance (smoke/non-smoke, quiet hall for studing/active hall for interactions, and few more which I forgot).

Please do not use misleading thread title.

Cerro Vista Apts. are only available to sophomore (and higher) students. One applies for these apartments through a lottery process (you can "enter" at the UPD office. However, the regular dorms are pretty easy to get into; I must say, though, they are a bit crowded and most people get sick of them quickly (Take a look; the average age in the dorms is only 18- everyone bails after they spend a year in them). Overall, I would recommend finding a place somwhere else in SLO; Mustang Village is pretty nice; They have studio apartments for around $645 per month, and they are literally across the street from school (When I was an undergrad I used to walk to a CSC 315 class; the amount of time walking from my door to the campus was less than 2 minutes). You should check out housing.calpoly.edu

ohh yea, i just visited cal poly today, again...lol (coming back from L.A.) it was really nice, i haven't seen the dorm buildings last time, but this time, i've seen a lot more things...yea i'm gonna be 18 when i attend cal poly, so i guess i wanna meet more people first in those dorms and then find some place else in my second year and the rest. i can't wait...one question, do you guys have like car pools, not just around the city, but when it comes to like breaks and stuff, those long-distance carpools...(like from SLO to bay area)...i was just wondering

Tons of car pools. If you go into the UU check the wall, there is a section just for "Rides"
