The practice sat that I took was based on the 2005 model (the 1800 max). 1200/1800 = 1800/2400. Also, will it make a difference If I send the scores for 2 subject tests to the cal states, or will it not make a difference? thx.

I just remembered: I took the practice test based on the 2400 system. I remember now that I got an 1800: A 570, a 630, and a 600.

I was just wondering... out of the 6 cal states that I have mentioned (cpp, csu fullerton, csu san marcos, csu northridge, csula, csu fresno), which one is the easiest to get into? Thx.

P.S. I live in the LA area (in Glendale).

I've obtained the following admission rate from Yahoo Education website, found at http://education.yahoo.com.

This link will give you the information you'll need to find your answer.
  • Cal Poly Pomona [only 17% of applicants were admitted]
  • CSUN [83% of applicants were admitted]

Thanks for the link, but I doubt that all of the info is accurate; for example:

For cal poly san luis obispo:
Moderately difficult entrance level, 45% of applicants were admitted

For cal poly pomona:
Moderately difficult entrance level, 17% of applicants were admitted

For csu san bernandino:
Moderately difficult entrance level, 25% of applicants were admitted

Based on what my counsellor told me, I doubt that these three figures are correct; besides, isnt cal poly slo the hardest cal state to get into?

Hi hye345, what you wanted to know is which Cal State university is easiest to get into but I provided the acceptance rate (calculated by the number of admitted students divided by the number of applicants).
There should be a stack of college admission related resource available at your high school college center, and one of them should have all the admission information listed for each universities (forgot the name of the book, quite popular and updated each year).
And you and your counselor are right about Cal Poly San Luis Obispo being the most difficult Cal State university to get into.

Hye: Looking at the avg. sat and gpa of each school is a better guage of selectivity. For example, SLO's numbers are a 3.8 gpa and 1250 SAT (old). I'm not sure of the others off the top of my head.

Looks like a long shot for me... my a-g gpa is 3.1, and I got 1800 on my psat. Still waiting for the score results of oct sat.

But will it make a difference if I take the subject tests as well?

It really depends on your major. I don't know much about ACT, but your GPA sounds about right. What are you planning to concentrate in?

Cheers,

Sociology, which fall under Liberal Arts, probably one of the hardest majors to enter! Thanks for the input.

Good luck. What do you hope to do with your Sociology degree? My mom earned her A.M. in Soc, among other degrees, and became a teacher.

Cheers,

I couldn't decide between psychology and political science, so I thought this was a good starting place. Are you at Harvard now?

Well that seems like a fine choice. I have always found Sociology to be quite fascinating--something about humanity when viewed as a single, large entity. Makes you question free will a bit. I wish you the best of luck regarding your admission to Cal Poly.

As for Harvard, yes I'm in my second year. I earned my B.S. in Computer Science at Cal Poly, and then headed east. A little colder than I am used to (certainly miss San Luis!) , but c'est la vie
