Cal Poly E-mail

I am having serious problems setting up my Cal Poly e-mail account to sync with ANY other E-mail server. I can recieve e-mails just fine, but I cannot send anything.....just get error messages. I have the outgoing server set up as "smtp.csupomona. com" and have set up eerything EXACTLY as instruced from the Cal Poly IT website. Anyone else have this problem? Any fixes?
Since I can recieve e-mails OK, I know that I have my login and password correct along with my incoming server....just outgoing mail is the problem. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have already tried Outlook XP, Outlook Express, Eudora, and half a dozen other ones download from the Internet. All have the same problem

Send a message via Yahoo to zoedragon
Perhaps you accidently put .com instead of .edu in the mail server's address? Incoming mail is mail.csupomona.edu and outgoing is smtp.csupomona.edu.

Also, make sure that are not using a login and password for outgoing mail.

Huh? The SMTP service is setup to demand a login and password, but you have to choose "Password" or "Plain-Text Password" if there is a field asking for authentication type.

If so, it is defective. I have tested the SMTP service with Thunderbird and Outlook Express. In both cases the SMTP service only worked when using no login and password.

Have you tested the SMTP service yourself or are you just referencing the old email guide that Cal Poly posted online? The new guide can be located here.

Tried all of these

Tried all of the suggestions and still nothing. I was told by someone to try and change the port number for the STMP from 25 to 5190, but this did not work either. What port number is everyone else using?

The port number I am using is 25. What is the error message that you get?
