Broncos win eighth straight, get 20th win

although the best player didn't show for the other guys we got another one on the road over in the eagles nest.

that puts us at 20-6 and eight straight going into the playoffs.

baby shaq didn't play...is he okay?

oh man.

for the most part it was a good webcast until the last sentence.

does anybody believe this one..."and now, on behalf of one of the greatest players all time in cal poly history, this is paul helms signing off...goodnight."

please tell me he didn't say that.

can anybody name one season when his partner was even the best player on that year's team?

would you agree it was jonathan boyd last year, one of the nation's leaders in treys, or dion cook, both all league?

and would you agree that it was either jeff bonds or david sybesma in the previous two years, both all league multiple times and both all american candidates?

if you're not even the best player on any given year how can you possibly be the best of all time?

duh....

xiaxoue can you take a joke. Helms was joking. We all know Hervey was a great roll players in the two west regional championship. I know his senior season was not great, but without him the Broncos might not have two west regional championship. He came up big during the tourney. All i got to say get over it man.

Anyways let talk about the game. The Broncos again played to their level of competition again. I mean come on Cal State LA best player did not play I think. This is about the million times this season this happen. As I like to say a win is a win. Kaleen got hurt during the Dominguez game and I guess the coaches did not want to take a chance this game. I am guessing its day to day. I think he should not play until the tourney the Broncos have to have him if they want to win regionals. Anyways we already clinch the 3rd seed so a loss wont hurt the Broncos. Also side note I hate Cal State LA gym. I do not know why but I just do. Props to all the Broncos fan who went to the game it felt like a Pomona home game.

No wonder why it felt like a Broncos home game their was only 200 people at the game. I thought attendance at Kellogg was bad this is just plain horrible. I will go on a limb and say the majority of fans were from Pomona.

tommorrow i actually do not care if we win or lose. As long as their is no serious injuries in the game. I will probally listen to the game, but I will be paying more attention to the Humboldt and San Bernardino games. The million dollar question is if Humboldt loses and San Bernardino wins where is regional. I doubt Humboldt will lose and were heading up to Arcata for the regionals.

20 wins...that's the fourth time in the last five years. it's a testament to the quality of coach k. and the program he's built. sometimes i wonder why a bigger program doesn't steal him away. and sooner or later it will happen unless we make the move up like everybody else.

just checked the box score...a "crowd" of 199, and as i recall, our pep band was there, right? you won't get that home cookin' up at the icardo center tonight. and by the way, it may not mean much to you, lakdod, but it will to the runners. they haven't had a losing season in 35 years and go into their final game at 14-14. that should be motivation enough. but coach hates losing, so we'll see. never good to go into the dance off a loss.

on the eagles nest, carol dunn had the place upgraded on her watch. i like the place. the chair seats are far superior to the old benches that we have. but to each his own.

sorry, but was flying and missed the podcast. xiaoxue, if that's what paul said as lakdod suggests he either was joking or talking about hervey's character, not his play. he's a former student of mine who represents everything good about bronco athletics. what athletes have is a chance to be in pressure situations, and these experiences will make the good ones like hervey successes in life, not basketball. appreciate guys like them for what they are. now let's please move on, okay?

did coach rest baby shaq? he wasn't in the box score. and btw, did you see what ivan johnson did in scoring and rebounding against DI bake? gulp!

Are you kidding me? Why are you always crying about something? A bully mustve took your lunch money everyday as kid! When theres no webcast you complain, when the broncos lose you complain, when the crowd isnt big enough you complain, and all you do is criticize malone. "Just Shut UP!" How many games have you been to all season? ... not that many

and by the way, Malone's accomplishments far exceed any of yours...

..duh

Yeah the Pep band was there at the game. I know it will be tough up in Bakersfield, Like I said in the previous post baby shaq got hurt in the final home game it did not look serious, but I think the coaches are realizing that the Broncos need to have him healthy if they are going to go far in regionals. I wont be surprise if they sit him again tonight. If he does not play its going to be tough for the Broncos to win of course this team seems to always find a way to win.

I like the seats in Cal State LA and they added a new floor, but I just do not like that place. I think its more with the campus and that its hard to find that gym if you do not know where your going.

Ivan Johnson is a beast he will be on all conference team with Dion, KJ from Humboldt, Dion, Vinson. I think the Broncos discover one thing when they play San Bernardino. Ivan will get his double digit points, but the key is to stop the players around him. If the rest of the teams scores the opposing team is in trouble.

good all league team, lakdod. and i think both larry and baby shaq should be in the hunt for second team honors. having three brings back memories of when jeff and david were on the first unit and hervey the second two years ago.

hey, any bets on donelle being FOY? what other studs are out there? and he's a true freshman and not just a redshirt. i sure like his upside potential.

you may be right about resting our big man. with melvyn gone we are thinner on the front line, too, but perhaps kyle and kevin can carry more minutes and it may make sense for a game that matters much more to bake than to us.

have not checked the GNAC scoreboard. who is the likely six seed and our first round foe?

It looks like were playing either Seattle or BYU Hawaii. We will probally find out in a hrs because seattle is playing as I type. Of course this paring means the Broncos are the third seed.

we want the seasiders. but that said, their sked this year is tougher than usual. in fact, they've lost to both alaska and both seattle schools so are 0-4 against the GNAC but 20-7 overall. usually those hawaii programs grab some bible or guam/samoa colleges and pad the record but not this team. and they did beat a decent CSUS team in their arena.

so we want a seattle loss today.

hey, what other stud frosh are out there? i wonder about booker's chances.

seattle blew out western oregon today. that gives them seven straight wins and a 19-8 record as co-champion of the GNAC. they are hot.

a dangerous team and absolutely not who we want in round one.

and by the way, they plan to go back to division one next year.

lakdod, don't we have a shot of playing grand canyon?

with seattle getting the automatic bid i wonder if the committee might move them to five and drop the lopes to six.

we want that scenario.

jay stop making me do all this research. I am not in your class

Well seattle won it look like were playing them if Grand Canyon win their two games which they should easily. I think they will not move down grand Canyon if they win their final two games. I would love for that to happen.

For Freshman of year its a three horse race. I had to do some research but its between Booker, IGBEKOYI from Chico, and Flethcher from SF State. I think only if there some freshman averaging more than 6 pts per game.

Flethcer averaging 6 pts 5 Rebounds .6 assist, and .73 blocks
Igebekoy 5.5 pts 3 rebounds
Booker avg 5.9 pts 4.7 rebounds, and .76 blocks .8 assist, and .76 steals
it look like between Booker and Flethcher. I do not know numbers are close but you have to give the edge to Booker because he is on a winning team.

great insights as usual...and who says history majors don't have practical skills?

you're probably right about having a player from a contender for it might not have happened with donelle.

hey, check out espn if you have the package. there is a D2 game on right now with ben wallace's old school, playing on TV for the CIAA title. this is why the commish wants this tournament, to showcase the CCAA on TV. can you imagine the broncos playing on national TV?

by the way, your grade for this assignment is an A! touche!
